i think i might have seen the bike afterwards, it was in pieces as you walked into the rear entrance of the grandstand with a collection bucket next to it

Well, its that time of year, (the reason why progress has temporarily stopped on the mini), last week i put new sprocket, chain and rear shock on the bandit, also stuck on a scott oiler and its feels loverly now

Also been tinkering on the crossers

Took them out for a blast last weekend, managed to cheat death on a couple of occasions!) and def got the bug again just in time for the summer, but they all needed a bit of tlc

My CR's fork seals need doing, and my RM's forks need totally replacing (all munched up inside, got some 2nd hand replacements en route), and just waiting on seals from www.wemoto.com (recommend them btw, they are brilliant)

The 250 in bits is my mates RM, was completely shagged besides the engine, the frame had some really crusty places, ended up replacing the whole down tube, rear seat bracket, and foot peg mount, got it all welded up and painted in alloy wheel silver to make it look lighter lol

Also replaced all the linkage, headstock, wheel and shocker bearings, fork seals, throttle assembly, front brake, chain/sprocket etc

Its incredible how you can throw £200 squid at a bike and make it handle essentially like brand new

Just reassembling now, hopefully get out on them at the weekend :)

well, the local mmc were having a practice race at a local quarry-come-racetrack, so thought id pop along and have a go

ill get the excuses out of the way first, and say the bike wasnt 100% the front brake was squidgey, and both front and rear tyres were about 40% before i even started lol

had 4 15-20 minute sessions throughout the day, and being my first time on track, learnt lots fast

first session i was trying far beyond my capabilities, and for the first 3 laps held the pace with a couple of the regulars (only by the skin on my teeth), but after that i got ridiculous arm pump and couldnt tell if i was braking or accelerating, so subsequently went to shit after that and have a few good wipeouts on the dusty bends

this put my off a bit as i thought i was just no where fit enough to stick it out, but went out again for the 2nd session, and just thought i may aswell take it a bit easier, and not worry if people pass me or i get in their way

This worked as my arms were so much more relaxed, got in the flow of it, and was probably 90% as quick as the regular backrunners lol

didnt get arm pump once, really enjoyed it and only wiped out twice this time

this gave me a much needed boost, so went out on the 3rd session full of beans, rode pretty much upto and sometimes beyond the limit of grip i had on the dusty bends, even kept up with the back runners who i tried to pass once or twice.....and suceeded momentarily, only to leave the footpegs on the very next jump, and take the brunt entirely on my ballsack, (i think the chap id passed nearly fell off laughing) so had to pull over to get my self together for a minute haha, then carried on till the end, but in all that session i felt a lot more fluid

final session was mixed, started ok, but my tyres were basically bald by now, lots of knobs awol and the ones that werent were as grippy as teflon, and i was pretty exhausted by this point too

so ended up going at about 60% the pace i would have liked too, then on the biggest jump, my arms just werent strong enough at that point, and managed to chin myself on the bars haha, but stayed on somehow despite a huge tankslapper, but after that it went completely to the dogs lol, wiped out on a fast burm on the next lap and got ran over a couple of times, and i didnt realise at the time but my index finger was crushed between the clutch lever and grip,

stuck it to the end though and felt awesome as i passed the chequered flag

all in all, didnt get in too many peoples way, so pleased at that as it was my main concern

damage to me is a bent finger, no skin on the back of my right hand, really sore ribs and a hella bruised shoulder and back, but nothing too bad

damage to the bike is....expansion pipe is pretty much flat as a pancake after the last big off, will try and slide hammer it out, engine isnt sounding great, when i had the top end replated last year, the chap noticed the bottom end was quite loose and would benefit from a refresh, but i was too skint at the time, i think that ill have to address this now, and both tyres are completely shagged.

one of the best days of the year, all the other riders were dead friendly and helpful, and feel miles better about entering a proper race now

my mate got a couple of vids for you to laugh at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RaSdG5TUDY&feature=channel

(by this point the tyres had no bite at all in the dusty bends :( )

cheers V, yeah its wierd, i dont think i was helping myself as in the second sesh i was holding the bars just as tight, but my forearms and shoulders were a lot looser, its just practice/training i guess

entering a sand race in 2 weeks which is meant to be a right workout, especially for the smaller 2 stroke bikes

need to get much fitter though, i feel like someones gone at me with a piece of scaffolding today!

After the first seasons of Supermoto I ran alot, increasing my lung capasity. You never know how much this helped. This made me last 12 laps, not being completely done after four *wink*

Also, buy a four-stroke, much more relaxing. Oh, and did I mention manly *wink*

Yummy... http://www.husaberg.com/FX-450.317.7.html

Just been given the green light from the Mrs to get a bike but somut's got to go.

Passed my test in '88 and havent riden on the road since 90 when I took one of my knees clean off (hence the long gap from passing 'til now).

One of my mates is picking up her 07 CBR600RR this afternoon but has just phoned me to say some Coffin Dodger has knocked her part ex bike over in the forecourt of a petrol station as she wasa riding her bike down to get the new one. Tosser.

Still, she's ok and thats what counts and the bike has only suffered rear fairing damage.

But, what to get ........ so much choice.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Hey Richard, see if you can get a test ride on Roberts CB500/Aprilia 125 turbocharged confection. I reckon that will cure you of any leanings towards two wheels.

What you want is a nice little car !

stefaz, ive seen those about, was surprised to see a 125 sticker on the side and presumed some r6 owners were just having a laugh, but turns out they are in fact 125!!

are the 2t? or 4 stroke still?

4 stroke and fuel injected - they pull from really low revs. it was parked next to an r6 in the showroom in the same colour and aside being a little slimmer and very slightly shorter they look almost identical, you been out on the course this week joe?

for a joke, i advertised my bandit at twice its value, and with tt looming, it sold within 2 days!

ive been offered the use of a friends 600 gsxr, but not keen on borrowing a bike during tt

i am out and about though, but no hot laps this year lol, im on my thumpster, just put a new stomp 15hp 140cc engine in it, amazing fun!!

i also have bought an old 2001 250 ktm exc for laning, cant wait to get out on her, just need the fork seals doing

was out watching the superbike race yesterday, bit of a delayed start due to the sea mist rolling in, and hella gutted for connor, but the lap records got a good kicking once again, its crazy.

Been out buyin bike gear.

Managed to save over £300 on helmet, boots and gloves. Still gotta get me leathers nd tex's.

Also managed to shortlist the next bike - a late model blade in red/black or a red Ducati 848.

Gonna test ride em back to back in the next few days down at Riders, Bridgewater.

Graham - when I said 'somut's gotta go' I was quite serious (no it's not the wife !) - it's a bit drastic but I have some decisions to make about keeping or selling the Minivan in light that I'll be losing my Mum's garage, workshop & house next door soon, and I'm being torn up making them.

End result could be the van up for sale within the next 6-8 weeks to help fund the new bike.

Oh happy days ..... !

Dave - I like the idea of goin out on Roberts machines but I think I might scare myself just a bit too much which will completely defeat the object of me gettin back to bikes again after 22 years !

Richard.

It's been a while since I've been on here but I thought I would show you my wee bike

it's an 2007 yamaha MT-01. 1670 torque monster!! 117lbsft and 90bhp at the wheel on Holeshot racings dyno

All the torque makes it good off the line

my best 1/4 time was 12.08 seconds with a 1.8sec 60 ft time
I hope to get well into the 11 second bracket with a few mods before I add the turbo!!!

That mini is determined to Kill me!!!!

sweet, love the way the vee's sound on the road, proper throaty

an old friend was back on the rock for tt, so used the excuse to get out on the crossers today up north, had an awesome day, been doing a bit of tlc on my cr as she took a bit of a pasting last month, and its running absolutley spot on at the min, totally in love with it, also fitted some aceretro graphics i found on ebay:

also, fitted a 140cc stomp engine in my thumpstar tother day, with the weather being mint on friday, took her out to watch the senior tt and run her in a bit

got a good snap of her next to some bigger bikes:

cant get over how much faster it is compared to the lifan engine before, totally different story! the ride home was phenominal, more fun than the bandit!

really, REALLY should do some work on the mini!

do you know what these rev to with standard cdi? i have a race cdi, but the poor thing sounds like shes on the verge of light speed as it is, so not sure whether to fit it or not?

need to find a cheap single cylinder tacho, but the weather proof ones all seem to be £60 ish quid..
