Looks good to me.

A thought though, if you clean up the centre web a bit it wont distort at the front, not that it matters though

Paul

I was looking at that, but the grinder with the flap wheels is round me Mums andthe box is assembled. It will get done next year on the refresh. I only have the engine apart to sort the oil jets out and change the FD :)

Mind you, I dont think you would notice the distortion much, the postman did a better job of that !

The fitment of this was not without its problems today.

I bolted the engine up and turned it over, the big end bolts were catching it. I should really have checked this before I glued the engine up. So off it came! I reshaped it, refitted and checked everything cleared, then glued the engine back on only to realise that I had not re applied loctite to the screws that hold the plate in place, so it has to come back off again :(

So, a tip for any one else fitting these, shape the curve a little so its a little flatter over the gearset and a little sharper at the back up to the top (diff side of the case) Also check the clearance before putting whatever glue you use anywhere near the gaskets *happy*

I guess I should have said to check the clearance to the rods.

I designed it around a normal stroke but tried it on a 1mm stroked engine with S rods and there was plenty of clearance.

I must admit when I roll them they all do come out very slightly different so may need adjusting as Sprocket says

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Paul, onec I reshaped it so it would still clear the gears, there was miles of clearance on the big ends :)

One other thing that didnt help. I used an M8 cap head bolt for the tab fixing of the oil pick up, this pushed the plate out a little. I changed the bolt for a button head one.

Dont forget to loctite the screws people!

on the one i made recently i managed to get it to clear with 1300 rods with the massive counter balance, did require a fair beating though,

if they'll clear then most other stuff shouldn't be to much of a probelem exept masive strokes.

Point 1 about 2/3 of the way down this explains the need for a baffle tray very clearly.

Mine has come too. Top quality.

Just one small question - what size holes do I need to drill in the casing for the screws and what tap should I use to make the thred?

Thanks

Anton, Im guessing by your questions that I didnt put screws in your packet. Theyre 10mm long.

Brett, just go all the way through the case, tap it out, then locktite the screws in place once youre happy nothing is touching where it shouldnt.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!
