Starting to be able to do stuff on the car again, just light stuff but hey it's progress.

I decided that my street fighter doors were too heavy so I made a few holes in them:

Not very exciting but I re-did one of my rear arches as I wasn't overly happy with the way it turned out first time round:

Well after running off to the Alps, rebuilding the rear suspension & fixing all the oil leaks on the MG, and generally procrastinating I've made a bit more progress on the clubby and started on the cage:

divine intervention it get things started, or rather sun light and smoke from fitting the mounting plates

notching the first tube after

test fit for the hundredth time

and finally the main hope and one door hoop thing welded in, just another 33 more bars to go!

EDIT: Sorry about the crappy pictures but it's the best my camera phone can do.

Wow good luck man, one tip leave the door cross bars till last as it kills your back clambering over them millions on times getting in and out to cut and test bars.

Thanks for the tip, I've found the pictures in your's and Andy's build threads to be really use full.

Got the other side in and the dash bar is ready to go, just need to check the height.

Well decided to drop the dash rail a lot, ended up sitting in the car with the steering column moving the dash bar up and down until I got a position that was comfortable. Anyway here are some pictures of todays progress:

Yep it's a Curley one, I got it from ABS as a cosmetic second for considerably less than they normally go for.

It's 95%, I don't think I'll ever be able to fully straighten it but it's good enough for me.

Good think I'm tone deaf and lack any sense of rhythm or my dreams of becoming a concert pianist would have been ruined.

Any way I managed a bit more on the car:

Made up some gussets for the A pilers

Had a play with the seat and harness mounting although I doubt the broom will pass scrutineering.

EDIT: can people let me know there thoughts on putting a bar across the main hoop for the harness.

And finished my custom subframe mounts with built in spacers to lower the body in relation to the subframe.

The cage isn't really designed for a harness bar, I used andy's great idea of welding in threaded inserts to bolt the harness to.

Yeah, that's what he's doing. You cut the ring off the top of the subframe towers and make a spacer (or maybe you could use the 2 alu. tower mount spacers if bodging) to prevent the tower bolt from bottoming out. It is in order to reduce the angle of the top arm on seriously low cars. I think Jimster had a thread on it previously
