Ian_W has just used a spade connector accross 2 of the pins in the brown plug. Been like that for a year now, and as far as I know no problems?

i'll take 1 *wink*

edit: although i'm slightly concerned it may not supply enough power to run quite a big sound system, stereo, 2 amps, sub, alarm, fuel pump, megajolt etc..

i've done a search but i'm getting mixed info.

anyone?

A few people are running these with electric fuel pumps, electric water pumps, ecu's, injectors, fans etc..

Depends on what size your amp/sub and rest of the stereo is I suppose? *oh well*

Right, after scouring the internet for ages and ages, I've finally found a source for the connectors for these alternators with the Type 4 connector. The brown oval one with three pins.

The connectors come with pigtail leads attached.

http://store.alternatorparts.com/partnoc1650.aspx

Trouble is, they are $18 each and $32 postage from the US.

So i've bought a total of four as the postage was the same.

This brings the cost down to about £23 to £25 each *surprised*

It's alot of money for a connector, but unless you do it properly, it's a bodge.

PM me if you would like to buy one.

I've now got these connectors:

They cost me £23.83 each. Gulp.

Bl@@dy ParcelFarce wanted £8 handling fee.

So I've got a couple of spares at £25 each including postage to UK.

EDIT: I've now sold both my spare connectors.

Has anyone tried the econoseal connectors with these alternators. Looks a similar shape?

http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/0-012-53-eco...of-1-2462-p.asp

I'm a bit reluctant to pay £20 odd quid to get one form the states, surely there must be somewhere that supplies here?

If any wants one of these I can bring them to MITP to save on postage. My mate said there is one 45A one left, but will double check.

Matty.

I'll take the last one if you still have it left please.

Am not going to MITP so will need to post or give to Rob H if he's there (?) as I work with him at Bristol. I'm sure Rob wouldn't mind bringing it back. Will give Rob a call to check.

I've PM'd you mate.

Thanks.

Richard.

Cheers Matt.

Great service. Posted Saturday, arrived Monday.

And so bloody small !

Will make a huge difference to the van if I can get rid of the current 'alternator on steroids'.

Hi matty, do you have any of these with the 5 groove pulley like the mpi alternator?
I'd love one, but need the multi groove pulley to run with my supercharger belt setup.....

They all have the same V type pulley. Im sure it is possible to mod it though. Have you got a pic of the MPI pulley?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Matty, is the 40A smaller than the 45 in size?

I'm really struggling for space on the vaux mini!

something just fractionally smaller and it would make life so much easier!
