went greenlaning for the first time on tues after work, proper good fun

some of the tracks were so bad i doubt even tractors would attempt them, so was especially inpressed at the way the ktm flew up them, riding up over breezeblock sized rocks like they werent even there

so glad i didnt come off too as i didnt expect the routes to be so harsh, so was just in jeans and windproof jacket, next time ill were my full on body armour, if i had come off, it would have most definately been bent bones time

so with a succesful first outing, decided to spruce up the old girl, fitted a decent o ring chain, new rear side/brake light as the other one was just for show, and also whacked on a trail tech speedo so i can tell whats going on, its almost passable as road legal now :)

cant recommend it enough, go give it a try guys!

well, had my first proper moto x race on wed night

all went really well, was happily keeping up with the back runners until last lap of the last session where i binned it on the penultimate corner, same place i binned it last time,

and again, the clutch lever crushed and bent my middle finger, it was like a mouldy banana yesterday!

still, very happy with things, and ive relised where i can quicken things up

1. im perfectly quick on the corners, but for some reason not wringing its neck too much on the faster bits, so basically need to man up and squeeze more speed out of her

2. i realised on weds night, that i can cary so much more speed through the jumps if i hit them quicker (common sense i know), but until now ive been approaching them in say 2nd and 3rd, getting a bit of air, landing ok, and carrying on. Now i tryed just going for it, and hitting some faster, in 4th gear and not only do i fly further and faster, but im more stable too, so in short, i need to carry more speed into them rather than concentrating on the bike balance (as i was paranoid about in practice)

been doing a bit of tlc on the bikes, and fine tuning the cr's suspension

got hold of the workshop manual, set up the sag properly (was next to fuck all, far too little), took it to a local track and fooking wow, what a difference!

from there on i played about with the comp/rebound and the bike is litterally transformed, no longer struggling to keep up with people, infact now have a new problem of people being in my way lol, bikes such a piece of piss to ride that i can be on the full attack permanetnly rather than fighting it everywhere

also noticed that someone (not me) had changed my fork settings to full soft on both comp and rebound, now i know that i set these to std settings after replacing the seals so not sure how or who has been pissing about with it beknownst to me...

was looking forward to caning the tracks all this weekend, but had a bit of an off greenlaning 2 weeks ago, wrenched my shoulder quite badly, went out on friday its still badly playing up, so reluctantly sitting tight for a few weeks until its fully mended (cant risk not being able to work) then get back in the saddle

on a separate note, ive landed a job maintaining a billionaires fleet of cars (serious, no joke!) and he also has a couple of nice bikes, so at present im being paid to take top of the range bentleys/mercs/rangerovers/jags/motoguzzis/yank tanks etc out for spins on a regular basis, make sure they are full of fuel, on the button and given a wash/polish now and then

must have been a good boy in a previous life lol

Wish me luck next weekend - I am riding the Cambrian Rally.

Its a 2 day event, 3 laps each day, 30 miles per lap,nearly all off road.

Makes a change from a turbo A35 I suppose.

Im guessing, but I reckon you are only half my age.

I know this isnt really the right forum to ask, but i just saw this post so might aswell.

Some of my mates have YZ125 and CR125 that we play about with round the farm.

So i have just been offered a nice 98 KX125, but i dont really know much about bikes, whats the KX like compaired to the YZ and CRs? will it keep up with them, etc...

personally i like the kx's tom

itll be a steel frame rather than an ally one like the cr and yz's are likely to have (depending on age), but to be honest, for a bit of fun blatting about a field, id one any day

Well.

Mine's going well since I picked it up in July from the dealer with 5,111 miles on it.

I've just put an extra 3,230 miles on it in the last 10 weeks but it is a rather large distraction from getting the van's motor rebuilt !

Loving it though. The Daytona is a seriously great bike, nothing like I have ever owned before. Roll on to the day when I can put my deposit down on a Ducati 1098S.

Just for the record I managed to finish - two days and around 170 miles off road. Not quite last either. Fell off only three times, once when showing off after an overtake and went straight on at the next corner and TWICE in the second Special Stage which buggered my chances of a decent result anyway.

Got a mention in Enduro News website too !

good going tadge i just got back from weston beach race, got shit faced most nights and watched the racing but next year i'm going to enter... the crf has expired so am going to get a ktm 300 exc and get some more enduros done in 2011
