Right then, before I break out the frying pan.
It all started to a bit pear shaped last night when I went to collect the laptop from the wench upon my arrival was told its not loading up, (could of told me that 4 hours earlier when I said I was gonna collect it). then made the 50 mile round trip to borrow a mates, was up untill the very early hours this morning trying to get it to connect to the MJ, (believe me my neighbours have a few choice words to say to me when they finally catch up with me), so I ended up taking my desktop, much to Mini13's amusement.
Ray did a few runs at 8pound (actuator setting) checked fueling and timing, fettled both. Then came feeding it a bit more boost via the boost controller, increased it little by little checking fueling and timing making adjustments as we went. Got to 14pound when he noticed it was smoking from the flywheel housing breather. (EEK!). This is where the story could get worse. Ray suggested that the rings may not have a good enough seal to hold that boost yet, and to drop out the millers and put some mineral oil in and do a few more miles, but personally im not so convinced. on the way home she spat a little oil ut of the breather, (drove reasonably sencibly) Just popped out in the garage and done a quick compression test and all cylinders are equal, which to be honest I wasnt expecting. So now a little confused and unsure what to do?
Cheers
Shane

450 on mineral, limited revs, low boost, "hard run in"
150 on millers little higher boost, then 14 pound today.

Hard to know for sure, but I'd have thought it should be OK at that though.

Are you 100% sure its not somehow pressurising the breathers when it shouldn't be due to plumbing for servo etc?

If the rings have not sealed in 600 miles there is some thing up, Not sure I agree with his logic neather, More boost normaly seals rings harder not make them leak ?

I have no servo Tom. I was just expecting to see one bore less than the others like I did last time, not to be all equal.

how many breathers do you have on this engine? Is it simply a case of too much crank case pressure??

As an alternative thought has your cylinder head been pressure tested and checked for flatness? Maybe a crack?

How much smoke?

An engine at 14psi is bound to smoke a bit.

Only the two, flywheel housing and timing cover. Have those little breathers on them, Richard has recomended that I remove them and give it a go. Just a bit odd it started as the boost increased?

on the way home i was thinking it could do with more/bigger breathers.

also i have known guide seals to pop off the guide under boost pressure.

I would expect the engine to breath a bit more under more boost, mine use to chuck loads of oil out, so much so I got black flagged at combe once. I simply added anothe breather and the problem went away.
