Beautiful ! Welldone on a great looking car.

Edit: Just checked out the first page of your build thread, could your brake problems not be down to the flexible hose used ? It looks like it is slightly larger bore than Ive seen used before and I had a similar problem with my brakes being very spongey after fitting long flexible hoses at the rear of my car. I reverted back to the original set-up and the brakes where spot on.

Maybe something to look into ?

Cheers, yes I did wonder that but then I have looked at some miglias and they have full braided lines... I wondered if I should try a master cylinder with a bigger capacity than the cooper S one I have now.

My next thing was to turn down the back brakes on the bias valve and see if it was any better. That way less fluid would be being pushed as it would only be pushing the front calipers

I know many cars run full braided systems, its the bore of the pipe thats the problem, or atleast that was the problem on my set-up.

Any updates on this?

Have you solved the brakes?

Also how do you find the internal linkage? Am fitting mine at the moment. Any tips?

Internal gear linkage is great, just a bit fiddly fitting it but mine worked first time. I only had an issue with not being able to select 3rd after the engine came out but after a bit of a rotational tweak on the shaft at the gear box end it worked fine again.

I've not been able to do anything brakes wise on the car just yet but I plan on sorting it when the weather gets better later in the year.

Hey Tom, did you ever solve the problem with the brakes?
Did the pipes leak excessively? Was it just down to bore size?

Cheers

I've only done about 30 miles in the car this year due to moving house twice in 4 months and just having a garage built. I've just not had time to do anything. Now I have a garage next to my house I should be able to get something done it over winter and sort it out.

The mini is currently having a full respray though by http://www.minimend.com/ as the doors were a different colour so I wasn't happy with it

Hi folks, for those who have contacted me about the steering drop brackets, please look in the trade sales section as I've made some more.

Sooooooo...

After wanting the car ready for the mk1 trackday I thought I'd get stuck into making the thing work properly. I picked it up from Minimend on Wednesday night and last night had a look at sorting why the brakes have always felt rubbish.
After doing some research and asking people about pedals I decided I'd take off the pedal (the car originally had drums all round) and compare it to the pedal off my 93 car which has a servo. I couldn't believe the difference in 'throw' so I decided to try and fit the pedal off the servo car, then I noticed that the clevis pin hole in the servo pedal is far too big for the clevis pin that actually goes through the arm of the master cylinder...

So I am either going to get a bush made up to make the hole smaller or try and find a pedal off a non servo disc brake car...? Thoughts?

Does anyone know which car I need a pedal off? It might make it easier for asking people...

Not sure if there is any difference, but if there is then maybe something from a non-servo car with 8.4 discs as standard? Like a mid 80s Mayfair?

I know they changed the brake pedal on the later cars (the brake pedal sits up a bit higher than the cutch). As Oli has suggested I'd look at the ones from a pre servo'd disc brake car

Nice article! Indeed probably one of the first minimag articles I find to add value on top of a forum build thread.

Fantastic build mate! I have a 296 cam and a weber and was planning on a megajolt. How did you get on with the TPS? Was it easy enough to set up?
