Been looking at the cca on different batterys.. just worried about like heat soak n how it would cope with turning it over so many times... i still gonna do it tho as it really is an amazing weight saving

They have charging circuitry inside them so you just use a basic car batt charger (and turn off any fancy desulfation / reconditioning modes if you have an 'intelligent' charger)

Making some good progress, it's impressive how it all adds up! Where are you getting your battery from at that price? What model is it? There's kots on eBay but they're coming from Europe somewhere!

Had a drive out to GSM motorsport today to physically try some different seats. The most confortable and actually lowest weight was this

Not the most attractive seat, but a lot more comforable than the Sparco Evo 2 or the Cobra Suzuka.

Order placed, in Carbon / Kevlar, with lightweight option Approx 8.0kg

That's what I was hoping, but apparently the manufactures actually list shell weight only. We weighed several seats in the showroom and all weighed considerable more than listed on the manufactures websites. Any thing below 8kg and your talking £1000+

I think they look better in the flesh than on the pic.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Warwick.

A bit late to suggest as you have already ordered, but the Recaros were lighter at 6.5kg and also narrower across the wing sections. Im quite space confined due to my rollcage positioning and was looking at the Recaro SPG's. Although again are more expensive

Appantely the recaros are not available, something to do with a FIA certification problem. Did you weigh the Recaros?

I'm meduim build (now 14stone😉 & 5'11) so ruled out a few lighter small driver options.

I havent, I only went on the weights from the tweekies site.

D4VE- Seats are a bit of an odd one, I have seen videos of FIA testing and the amount the seats flex in normal use, side loading you input in the corners its huge! I used to work for a place which had contact with Racetech seats, and they have additional mounting points on the rear of the seat and still weight around 6kg
Shame I almost got some for cheap, but they had "Dodge Viper" on the seat back

I've bought a dozen or so different seats over the years, all without actually trying them first. For the sake of maybe 1-2kg im quite happy to find something that will actually enhance the comfort and driving pleasure. I was going to just order the sparco EVO2, that in the end was actually the least confortable, least supportive and pretty heavy.

What seat mounts did you go for? Do you know this will fit in the car with your cage? As the first seat I got for the mk1 would not fit right at all. The one that's in there at the min sits to far forward for my liking. But the cage stops me going anymore back.m

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

Yes mate, the T45 cage sits slightly further back, but I'll double check. I've got some alloy mounts, but I might get Endsf to weld in steel mounts, weight depending.

Just double checked with Endaf, another racer in the workshop as the same seat and cage fitted. The seat will need be moved right up to the tunnel, but will work just fine.

I guess this will aid corner weights anyway.

Moving the seat right up to the tunnel also means your feet will almost be inline with the pedals too. *Clapping*

That's a good point. Plus the steering coloulm is UJ mounted to the dash bar, so will line up.

Ok, after a 4 hour session this morning re-weighing everything and rethinking the extra Rollcage bars. I think im at 506kg including 4litres of fuel.

So, I've bite the bullet and ordered a carbon roof from Arc angels. I've gone for the option 3, still wet lay, very slightly ligher than fibreglass, but much more rigid, as its made with epoxy resin.I think this will net about 4.5kg saving.

Only 1.5kg to go.

Maybe some Arrow conrods, forged Pistons and steel crank 😜

Now just need to put my plans into action, I've got loads of stuff to fabricate and have laser cut. Am also on the look out for a good 240v electric die grinder for the gearbox and block mods. Any recommendations?
