That's brilliant, the super charger is almost as big as the engine.

If you read the spec of the Stripduster you will see that he used a three speed gearbox with first gear removed.

So he was running 9 second quarters with just two gears, such was the torque developed by the supercharged engine.

I'm sure Dragonfly was the same.

I'm trying to find some photos of my Junior Dragster that I never finished building. It was very similar to Stripduster. I think that my parents still have them but I'm going to send the wife up in the loft to see if she can find them.

From what a friend said - he was around these cars at the time - just like the top fuel cars today he used to bin the internals after a very short time period - measured in runs not miles - then replace the whole lot and start again - great stuff!

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I've remembered now, Dragonfly just used a Laycock overdrive unit as a gearbox.

So just two gears, very close together and 8 second quarters.

He was very approachable as well. He would always chat in the pits. Not like Vizard, you could only get two words out of him if you were lucky.
