looks like a nice cheep sort of drag car to run. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

i'm sure ive seen a picture of drag,n fly with the engine behind the driver, still A series, different paint jod too, more red and white |

I don't know that he ever got the rear-engined car to run as fast. Apparently, Harold Bull put two 998s in Stripduster, but took the front one out after breaking a crank! If you read the spec of the Stripduster you will see that he used a three speed gearbox with first gear removed.

From what a friend said - he was around these cars at the time - just like the top fuel cars today he used to bin the internals after a very short time period - measured in runs not miles - then replace the whole lot and start again - great stuff! If Carling made Mini engines

I've remembered now, Dragonfly just used a Laycock overdrive unit as a gearbox.

Vizard was a professional with a job to do. It was early in his career, but was already well known through C&CC Magazine.

I've just worked out that the first and last time I spoke to David Vizard must have been in 1973, because that was the only year he competed at the Pod on a regular basis according to the trackbytes website.
