I'm still not decided.

All the panels are available although we would need to spend around £2k just on panels.

Making sure it was straight would be the biggest problem.

A Heritage shell is a possible option, although a well repaired original would be OK.

I don't really want to take on a basket case of a shell and end up spending 100s of hours fixing it.

2K on panels and still worrying about it being straight at the end of the day is an issue - surely you could pick up a good shell to use - even if it does need a bit of work? the other option as you say is the heritage shell - at least that option may give some additonal re-sale value as well?

What about Jimster's shell? sure it would need a bit to convert it back to a road car, but it's straight rust free, unmolested and comes with a free climbing frame which you could always flog on.

the other problem with a rebuild ,apart from the jigging , is that its obviously haunted ...

Paul cut your losses that shell will never repair both the roof and the floor are bent and twisted and no amount of jigging will get that out

Best to find an unused unregistered "heritage" shell

This morning, I'm more inclined to get a running replacement after waking with a bad back after hoisting the car up the garden last night.

We can then just recover what we can and get rid. So much is damaged though, most the wheels are badly curbed :(

If I did repair the shell, it would have new floor, bulkhead and roof, plus the usual culprits.

Does it have to be a 30? I know of a nice red mini that'll be up for sale soon.
Just needs a rear subframe refurb that could come off the 30 if its ok.

The thought had crossed my mind.

I would be more inclined to put the best of the 30 parts on the Studio 2 shell and let Axel have that, then Evo could have the Flame. Needs agreement between the three of you and an exchange of funds although I can see The Bank of Mum & Dad being out of pocket as usual.

Family meeting off-line required *happy*

I would be careful about using the rear subframe of the 30.

There is a tyre rub mark on the shock absorber and the inner wheel arch which may have something to do with it snapping out of control.

Something must have moved under there for that to happen.

Thanks Mike - predictable yet funny.

Maybe the cause:

There is a gouge in the tyre, but it does not look like it has penetrated enough to cause it to blow out.

How the hell did a 165 * 12 on a standard alloy rim get that close to the arch and shock. Time will tell.

Hmm strange, are all the swing arms in tact. Camber bracket bolts come loose?

doesn't look like it was rubbing before the accident given the paint etc still being in place - did the tyre blow out? sidewall flex could have allowed for some of this?

Badly worn radius arm bushes, maybe wheel bearings.

Otherwise, outer radius mounting arm bracket bent, maybe during the "event", ie, the rub was only for a few metres ??? (the outer brackets bend easily).

Everything seems as solid as a rock i.e. foot on tyre test. Need to get it apart really.

He says that he hit a big pothole earlier in the evening and then he had to get his mate to sit the other side as there was something rubbing. He stopped and checked but could not see anything wrong.
