Am i right in reading that mini spares do a SC diff, but i dont think there LSD?

Any idea what the advantage is and why there not made LSD?

Ive decided on getting a SC box but after reading past posts, a lot of people seem to be using different gear sets.
*oh well*
some using SCCR minispares and some using the clubman Gt set (i think) with a shorter 1st gear, should this effect diff choice or is it irrelivant as its only 1st gear thats different?

What ratio drops are most of you runnning?

If you know someone who can grind/machine the crown wheel out, you can put any FD on an LSD...

well i run a challenge gearset

with 2.95:1 diff on 13s

the shove of the turbo motor just pulls it through!

this is the right gear ratio for chav bashing and scobie spanking IMHO........lol *laughing**laughing*

Steve. i have bought a cross pin diff and it has 3.44 ratio cwp is this to low, should i go with a biger one ? i will be running 10`s and 13`s tens on the track and 13`s on the street. the gearset is a challenge set from Iain. Iam not too bothered about top end as such as far as iam concerned 70mph is all u need for the road *wink* was going to run 4.6:1 stainless straight cut, but that will be screaming its nuts off at 60 lmao

If you have a challenge set, then I'd stick to a 3.44 or 3.2 at the VERY most...

have i got this right

2.95 will give you slower acceleration but higher top speed.
3.7 will give fast acceleration b ut a low top speed.

please dont laugh im a bit numb sometimes*blush*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

carl - got it in one....

or course, there is more to it than that....
With a torquey engine with a reduced red-line (like a turbo), a 3.1 could be quicker to (say) 70mph than a 3,9, as it would have used the torque of the engine to adequately pull the taller ratio, reducing the risk of wastefull wheel-spin and saving on a gear-change by virtue of the taller ratio's...

If your not arsed about top end, the 3.76 is good. 4,500 at 70. Im running one on the 1400 NA. Realy good for the twisty roads as you only use third and fourth, firts gets you going and second is just a step to fourth, mind you Im finding myself not using second because the sinchro is bolloxed and it pops out of gear on over run. Like I said a good twisty road FD.

Dan webster runs a 3.9 on his KAD 16v but he also has a redline some where near 9,000. That must be shitting quick *surprised*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
