You and Nic were on your way to one of your 'special parties' and realised you weren't weraring any of your trademark fishnets, so removed the belt, pulled it apart, and wove it into a spangly new pair of tights. And there was even enough left over to a gimp ball mask for nic?

You're correct!!!!! :)

To all of you others not being serious, bugger off!

So... Why does this happen?`The cam follower had cracked and jammed the crank.

Cam is buggered as well :(

can we see some pictures of both the failed one and the others. the followers are known to wear especialy on high lift cams or high lift rockers. also if they were cheap ones, "you get what you pay for".

cam.. Crank is good due to the belt snapping. I wonder what would have happened if I had used a chain...

It happened while running on the starter didnt it? Then I guess it would have locked up without really making much damage.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

that could have been very messy!

sounds like an expensive cam follower!

have you stripped the entire engine? at that speed the pistons can hit the valves, damage rockers, push rods, pistons, con rods and even bend the crank.

can you post pictures of the followers and cam lobes so as to check for wear?

Are we not looking at this from the wrong perspective?

Has there been any valve/ piston contact?

May have been the belt that failed first causing the valve to hit the piston cracking the follower.

I have conserns that the belt used in these 'Kits' is a little under sized for what it does. The 20,000 mile service interval shows this. Id half this for use in high reving engines though.

I also had a similar concern with a similar belt on another engine but with increased load on it. Time will tell on that one.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

LOL

Yes well, a comment was rased by some one after I raised my concerns of said belt which was ' Why do you think the minispares belt system is inadequate? (even though i only use the cam gear) mini7 & mini miglias have been using them for years'

I suspect they never fail because anyone building these engines replaces everything well before the time they fail, of course, resulting in a more reliable engine

Why do you change yours with so little miles on it, i suspect because you dont trust it either. Personaly i wouldnt trust that one at all, but then thats me *wink*

oh and belt drive up to 9500 rpm. Now you are dicing with a destroyed engine.

Belts and rpm are not a good couple

You won a RHD wooden dash.. BUt I see that you're on the other side of the planet. You nned to come and get it *wink*

There is absolutely no sight of any piston to valve contact at all. Rocker clearance cannot do this, can it? Didn't check cam float, but it didn't feel excessive at all.
