My personal hate in 'no' instead of 'know'

Or hole instead of Whole

I guess the english language's proliferation with homophones and homonyms makes these types of mistakes al to common when english is no longer taught properly

Sorry, but the F word is not in my repertoire.

The other one is

How about people who use 'seens' or 'scenes' instead of 'seeing as' - I see this a lot on various forums.

As this is an international forum, us Brits should try harder.

The reality is that a lot of the forum members that have english as their second language are better at it than we are.

At the end of the day what does it matter! As long as its not in text speak is it really such a problem?

Like people have said above there is people from different countries and some are just not very good at grammar and spelling!

Waits to have post ripped to bits for punctuation and grammar *hehe!*

As long as other people understand what someones typing, I don't really give a shit to be honest. :)

I will agree text typing is abit annoying, more so for folks that don't understand it.

As for spelling & punctuation....thats a little bit pedantic.

I agree that text type and phonetic spelling is annoying, but we live in an age where even the teachers cannot spell (or many journalists, whose stock in trade is words !) so we should be tolerant, as long as we can understand the post and there are no alternative interpretations possible. I think that this forums,s strength is the exchange of technical information, not its command of english and punctuation.

I stand by my 'grumpy old man' statement that Brought does not mean or sound the same as Bought. However, this perticular mistake is so deep into the (ill)educated society that it would appear that Brought also now has a definition which means to have purchased something.

spelling mistakes, fair enough, but there are too many people using Brought instead of bought for it just to be a spelling mistake.

How sad.

Two posts and can't even spell "the".

As for "nothing", probably beyond hope expecting him/her to spell that correctly ...

The thing is, Ms two post "Lot" probably has a standard QWERTY keyboard in front of him/her, but he/she is probably too young to know how to use it...

(Edit - changed Mr two post "Lot" into Ms two post "Lot" as I hadn't realised gender was implied....)

Maybe. But people on forums can only judge you on what you write, how you write it and your use of English. And on this forum at least, you are likely to get less people taking you seriously, wheteher you know what you you are taking about or not, if you use poor england.

I must admit ive never really needed to make the effort to spell and use proper punctuation, i hated it at school and dont really need it at work.

I have however found while being on this site i need to (try) just as will says so people take you seriously.

I clearly arnt brilliant but am trying.

Okay...Okay, got to let you have that one Paul! *happy*
Only one condition though, allow those that drink alot the benefit of doubt. Say around 10pm when a few pints have taken their toll!
