i am one of the "i'm up for it if my car is done" crew. August gives me plenty of time though, this sounds like it could be a really cool day :)

great idea tom, the drag strip started to loose it's appeal after a while. 13 seconds of action just isn't enough... ask my missus! *wink*

Not bothered which track, just tell me when are where. :)

i know the London and Surrey Mini Owners Club hire Goodwood track for the day. they chose Goodwood as its the cheapest and its cheaper on a week day. i think it cost around £7,000 for the day

the other problem for some is noise, Goodwood have a variable noise limit depending on the number of cars out at one time. cant see it being a problem with turbo minis.

the only way to do this would be to get the track to front the event as i would not like to come up with £20,000 ish and potentialy have 5 people turn up.

sorry for putting a downer on things but i think its a bit tricky to organise.

if you do it, and pull it off, then you are the man!

Think Tom's more for going to an already organised track event.

i.e. more of an informal meet where we all attend the same trackday rather than actually do the organising himself *smiley*

Yes Iain has got it in one, my idea is to just pick on an organised trackday, and then whoever wants to attend all does so and we have a BBQ, a few scoops and a chuckle the night before.

i was going to comment on this, but im sure alot already know about trackdays

many of the track promotors will take club bookings, obviously we will need to book it well in advanced as there will be a large no. with no refunds for dropping out

may i suggest booking it for a monday, so we can all stay on the same camp site on the sun night, maybe even sat too for a monsterous mess, then trundle on down on the mon morning feeling remotely fresh

then we can all go back, only needing to have booked/skived one day instead of two

everyone who goes on this will be able to laugh at my unique cornering technique (slow down, coast, speed up, slow down again)

hmmmm whats the nearest track to phils??? we could stay near there and hopefully bump into his sister..........

To clarify i can get this sorted for any track but the main two i discussed were Oulton and Cadwell.

They said we would prefer cadwell, which incidently the cheaper of the two, as its more suited to minis.

Dates last weekend in may or mid to late september for those on a budget, other wise we will be looking more expensive as june through august is peak season.

Our group package includes use of pit garages and a driving instrcutor for those who require it included in the cost.

So i will post this week a specific one on each track and and also make provisions for sorting the payment out to motorsportvision.

There WILL be a deposit payable which will be £50.

I will sort an account for you guys to pay your deposits and final payments into unless you would rather i sort something through admin??

The only reason for this is in order for it to be a group booking has to made by one person in order to get as larger discount as possible.

Any queries or objections please post here or pm me.

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

if this turns out to be a full meet, i may be able to locate a marqui (sorry for spelling) but it would take a good few of us to put the sucker up :) but it would either mean dry area for cars to be worked on, or beer tent.........take ure pick psml let me know, i suppose it would depend on numbers etc etc.

EDIT: my mate also has an inflatable hangar type building ?
