True enough it could. Having said that I am the smooth, get it all done in a straight line, high corner exit speed kind of guy. One of the other guys we've done this is the super aggressive 100 inputs at once sort of driver and a third is somewhere in the middle.

We all agree that the car feels easier to drive on the 10s (so for some people an improvement would show with the added confidence) but balls out, on the limit 13s are much better. Where is really shows is in esses and adverse camber corners where the ability to dig in as it chances direction is the most important thing

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Are we takling road yres or slicks here Roger?

I am personally in support of 13" for track use on slicks, although a road on 12s with A539s is hard to beat IMO. Just such a good compromise.

They certinally helped me avoid a Shogun on the wrong side of the road at 5:30 this morning!!

12s give the best compromise for a daily driver as the slightly higher side walls and slightly narrower tread section make the car comfortable and forgiving to drive distance in. Can still get proper brakes behind them.

I agree for a daily driver, that is why Candice's car is going onto 12s.

If the car sees track time then I prefer 13s, I think the extra feedback from the shorter sidewall really helps find the limits.

As far as slicks go I'll trust your judgement as I've never driven a Mini on slicks ...

my mini handled better on 13s than 12s, both with goood tyres. i kept the standard suspension at the time, appart from rear adjustable camber brackets, had themm set up (which took 2 hours with these 2 old guys in a garage) and the handling was awesome. far better than a minis iv driven with 10s, 12s or 13s, i think its all about the geometry of the wheels

Lift off over steer in a Mini? Can't say I have ever experienced that, I must have been doing something wrong all these years driving them.

i loved playing with lift off over steer in my mini, it was very poorly set up on 13s at the time, very high with lots of positive camber!! it made for a fun drive but not very quick round corners. lol

a friend rolled his mini the first night he got it on the road, slid sideways then his a verge and thats what sent it over the edge, got out rolled it over and on his way again. lol

it took about 4/5 of us to roll a metro over when we wanted it on its roof because the COG was so low after letting all the fluid out of the suspension so we could get the hubs off. lol

So even on 13's with 175 tyres would it be pretty impossible to roll simply by taking a roundabout too quickly, you'd need to be going sideways and clip something?

With road tires you won't roll but slide no matter what wheels you have and what your suspension is. But as people have said if you slide on grass or sand etc you may dig in and flip.
