So where is the dipstick hole?

I'm suspecting this is an 'automatic' engine block, given this is also missing.

Show us the oil-pump area for confirmation.

And first prize goes to Dave....

Shit didin't realise, it was missing the dipstick. I make up for the lack of *blush*

Engine no. 12H908AA, ive seen loads of 907's but couldn't find any 908 blocks!

Is it possible to convert this then, I haven't handed over any cash yet, as I wanted to have a good look at its condition first, so would it be worth getting another if its too much work?

Yes it is indeed an Auto block. I have a 998 auto with the same blank on the oil filter take thingy, yet i also have another 998 auto that has not had this area machined.

I suspect the one with the blank plate is actaly a manual block to a degree????

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

crikey & here i thought most of you guys knew your mini stuff, Dave has it right & yes it is indeed an Auto block, pretty normal really & yes they`re easy changed over to manual

Oil pump mod plate, drill a couple of oil galleries at the back of the block right through the oil pump area, remove & braze up the oil pressure limit valve seat holes & drill the dip stick hole & Bob is your Aunty *smiley*

easy-peasy *smiley*
