Thanks Richard, if the firm has to make you new jigs, what sort of lead time are we looking at before I can lay my eager little mits on one?
Thanks
Shane.

If they gety to work on it fairly quickly then i couyld see them getting a batch run of in maybe 3-4 weeks. But what people promise and deliver can be different. I could push and say its a real rush, but it's gonna cost more.

Richard, surely if they hold YOUR jigs on to do YOUR exclusive job then they must share some liability if they have lost them. Certainly the way I negotiate with our suppliers at work. They hold the tooling which we pay for but they have to maintain the tools to maintain their exclusive contract to supply.

Everybody wins that way as it's in their interest to keep the tool 100% up to scratch but don't have to risk paying for a tool to be made in the hope of orders. Unless the silly sods loose it of course in which case they loose, shame!

Thats understandable, Surely they have to be a little more obliging as the jigs have gone missing in their care, and has had a knock on affect to your business? What ever happened to customer satisfaction?

Well to be honest when the originals were made years ago it was just a couple of guys doing this from home and were not to business savy. So ownership of any jigs wasn't really an issue and i got on really well with the old shop manager, so was never an issue. I normally place an order when i have 3 or 4 sets left, i sell around 1 set a month on average. So even if there is a hiccup then its not normally a prob. Work has conspired to keep me chained to it !! ahhh. Work is 120 miles from home an my workshop, so i'm away all week.

All will be sorted.

Even toyed with the idea of doing a different setup thats ported for better pulse etc. Thinkin of 3 matched length primarys, turbo in same place with no bulkhead chop and new inlet manifold setup to suit.

Think i'd better get my current set sorted !! don't hold your breath on the above, it's still in the thoughts stage.

Richard ..... may I be as bold as to suggest ....

Equal length primaries, turbo where the carb normally is and flanged up to suit BMW K head ....... now, I bet you'd sell some of them!!!!!!

Having seen a set of your A series ones I'm sure you'd do a good job for the K head....

Looking foward to playing with a car with the Mirage kit on .... Rob, if your reading this that means your car ...... let me at it .... *wink*

I like the sound of that. Would be nice.

I'm not so sure on them being a big seller due to the cost of the k head converstion. Need someone to do a nice kit with the cam pullies etc etc.

Why not also think about an EFI inlet manifold for the 5-port head. The new MS code users will need something.

Got to admit i'm totally out of touch with what is happening with injection on the 5 port, dont venture into that forum at all really. Is this up and running, what sort of injector setup ? Guess i better go read !

Richard, there are two sources of the kit form K head conversion at present, my money will go to Specialist Components when the time comes.

TD .... well if you'd let us know what your up to then maybe we'd not spend so much time on thinking through the same problems ...... or maybe we would anyway ..... LOL
