I quite like the A'series, for example i think a well set up standard 998 could be classed as a good engine!!! Reliable,economical,buttet proof etc and peeps like us can still extract decent power figures from them and have a reliable 150 or so bhp Ok a tad noisy and smoky, but so is me audi TDi LOL

Not trying to silence anyone but we need the right presentation to get these pistons!

Will they be just for 1293cc or will it be possible for other sizes to be produced?

Making the dies for the forgings is the hardest part, and where the effort lies.

Dave, not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but would the pistons come with rings?

or would you need to source some from else where, if that was the case would the groove dimensions be the same as other +20 / +040 pistons?

i am not very familiar with pistons or rings, are the groove dimensions all made to a set standard?

Well im looking at forged omegas any way (15cc dish) so if the price is roughtly the same then i will have a set depending upon when they are avalible. Are we talking weeks, months or at a later date?

What we need is a price and a date...

I know what you mean Alex, but we have to convince them that if they *DID* lay down new forgings and time developing a new product that there is a sufficient maket to sell such items...
In reality - I would say these won't be available for at least 6 months, and would be priced the same as OMEGA forged pistons...

Dave give me a call on this one as i've spoke a number of firms on this one. I've got options to have cast and forged items made. Only problem with the cast is the minimum order of 500 units !! I've recently been talking with the head of piston sales/marketing at a very well known manufacturer who was interested in manufacturing some forged units. These would have a big name on them and be in omega money territory, which is a bit pricey for my liking. Drop me a line dave and i'll fill you in more.

How is it looking for these pistons now as i am about to buy some, be nice to get these if they will available soon

I was at Slarks on Friday morning and was chatting about 20cc pistons.

He said a supplier of his could probably make some

I can't remember the company name but said that many of them were ex JE employees, so quality should be spot on and he said the prices were very reasonable compared with JE

Something i cant decide on. Some people say forged, some say the cast are fine. Hmmm.....

they get cheaper,can you get a cast piston deeper than 12cc?

That is very cheap then. Might end up investing in a set for the extra £75 over cast ones.

12cc are the max ive seen for cast ones although some have machined the dish larger than that. Any cc's saved in the chambers via bigger dish is a big bonus.

just spoke to neil he has ordered ten sets,he says they are stronger than omegas and specially made for turbo aplication,
