All I've used is half a dozen old tyres from my local kwik fit. The red box section is my home made subframe substite to ensure that the repacement subframe mounts are in the same place as the originals.

I haven't got any more pics I'm afraid but I'll take some the next time I go up to work on the car (won't be until next weekend at the earliest).

Here are a couple of pics:

I think I'll add some casters to it as well so that I can use it to wheel the shell around.

Welding done so far:

Driver's & passenger's footwells
Both inner sills
Both other sills
Driver & passenger's heal board repair panels
Both door steps
Both flitch repair panels
Rear boot repair panel
Rear valance (old one was fine but there was no what I could do the boot floor with it in place)
Rear valance closure panels
Drivers rear quarter panel repair
Bulkhead box

I've also replaced the doors with street fighter ones:

I've just got some tidying up to do then it's time to get the cage fitted.

Looking good there mate ...... Rear subframe bracket looks similar to the one I have as part of my gig (you've seen that haven't you???).

Make one for the front subframe, connect with bits of 2" steel tube ( old salvaged water pipe in my case) and you have a jig / shell flipping device!!!

We need to have a chat about moving car's around if I'm going to do the welding on your cage for you. With Candice's Mini, the Porker and project "upset the purests" to juggle (along with the Racing Green, Clubby and old turbo shell) I'm rather short of space!!! Maybe I need to sell some ... anybody want a clubby??? LOL

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

TBH I don't think I saw the rear part of your jig, IIRC there was half a Dutton in the way the last time I call round.

You can't get rid of the clubby, that would make the ideal MPI test bed, (I can't believe that I'm thinking about building a car out of the odds & ends in your workshop) as I've said I know someone who could be interested in the Porker, just need some photos.

Rob .. probably was a chassis in the way!

Why not build a car from bit's I have hanging about ..... I'm unlikely to .. LOL

Will sort out pics when I get some time to wash it and change the wheels.

Started painting the cage today (all 30+ bars) should look better when I get some red on it tomorrow.

I think I might enter my jig for the Turner Prize.

EDIT: Forgot to add that I got to use my SRI for the first time since I brought it in the spring, and I have to say that it is now my gun of choice.

Well got some red down today:

I now regretting buying the SRI, as I can see myself having to get a GTI to go with it as I don't think I can bring myself to go back to the JGA.

LOL Rob ..... GTIs are a beautiful gun to work with ..... just buy one!!!

I've got to change mine soon to set up for water based so might just buy all new ... I'll let you know if I go that way.

Funny thing is I still use my Clarke guns for primer and high build so goes to show having a top notch gun isn't an absolute requirement if your only doing the odd bit. The U-Pol Maximum guns are suprisingly good for about £60 which leaves you about £150 from the price of a GTI.

As for painting the cage did you leave the ends to be welded unpainted / masked?

It's longer and has a couple of UJ so you have a bit more flexibility when mounting it.

No, I was going to hand sand them after you've cut and notched them all.

Well I never, tbh the last time I saw your car it was cold, wet & muddy so I wasn't paying too much attention (sorry).
