Mate, you have to save that car!!!!!

I never knew how much I liked the Metro's until I saw pics of yours!

I must have run 5 or 6 of them over the years, both before and after I have had the engines .... never seen one as nice as that!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I think the people on this thread are right, sure your not really feeling like getting into a whole reshell/rebuild right now but you will someday. If it was me I'd out a tarp over it and cry a while, then maybe later you'll want to get into it again. If you still don't then I'll buy it!

Its all really sad, such a nice car! I don't normally like Metros but that one changed my mind.

i'm really sorry to see this. Best metro i've ever seen. :(

Would be cool if you could make one good one out of the 2 cars. But i do understand what you mean about being demotivated.

I've put the engine up on ebay, and have a chap possibly buying the complete crashed car as he wants to use it as a doner car for a Metro he is restoring.

Whatever car i buy next, I will produce something similar guys, I assure you of that.

This car has been a learning curve for me, and I am sure my next project will turn out just as unique.

Thanks so much for everyones kind words. If the engine doesn't make the money I want on ebay, then I will sit on it and MAYBE buy another turbo shell for a swap over.

Tim

Can I ask what exactly happened? I take it everyone involved is OK? I did a nice 360 once, I forgot about the cheap 145's I had on the rear, big snap oversteer (wasn't going quick!) but thankfully I missed the curb.

I was driving with my younger brother, and thankfully we are both ok thankyou.

I gave it some spirited accleration out of a bend and over corrected on torque steer. Unluckily during these antics i clipped the kerb, sending me in a 180 spin.
The car spun, and as the car struck the kerb side-on, the rear wheel took the impact and was cleaned off, and the car continued over the pavement and into the armco barrier, damaging the rear panels.

I was just so grateful that no one was hurt. And at least the front end is untouched.

Tim

No!

That was the nicest metro i've ever seen. Gutted for you.

I really would just stick it under a tarp for a few weeks and then make a decision about the future for it.

Cheers for the encouragement.

To be honest this has just brought the project to a head for me. I was forced to get a loan out last year to fix it after I melted piston and had to rebuild the engine.

I just can't bare to put any more money into it, as it already owes me £9000 in parts and labour to date.

Thanks for the tip off.

I have a bloke coming to view and more than likely trailor away the Metro in a couple of days.

Its a sad end to a very enjoyable car. I know reshelling it makes sense, but I work in the merchant navy and never spend extended periods at home. To reshell it would take alot of money for me as i don't have the space/equipment to do the job.

Not the result I wanted for the car, as I have big plans for it after the summer shows, but hey, life deals some shitty cards sometimes.

I'm please to say the car was sold and trailored away this morning.

The lads that bought it were really into the car, and were very keen to fix it back to its mint condition.

It was sad seeing the car leaving, but it will live again, very soon no doubt.

I doubt I will be using this site again, but I will pop back to have a nosey at peoples cars.

All the best guys, you've been a great help during my 2 year ownership.

Tim :)
