My Mk1 doors only weigh 4Kg each now with alloy skins and inner pockets including widows, channels, handles etc etc. They are worth it BUT Minidoor co cant supply them any more as the bloke that made them died. I may be producing a batch soon, Ill post up if and when I do.. paul Paul, When did he pass away? as Roger & myself were only speaking to the Minidoor Co about street fighter doors, a couple of weeks ago at stoneleigh and they had alloy skins with them them. Out off interest any idea how much a set of MK3 alloy skins would set me back? As I'd be interested in a set if the Minidoor Co can't help me. Vegard, I'm guessing that allot of the weight saving with the street fighter doors comes from removing the inner skins, winder mechanism & replacing the glass with perspex, I'm sure that the alloy skins help a bit but no where near as much as removing the rest of the junk. I spoke to Minidoor Co in January, when I was told the guy had died.
I seriously doubt it! |

I've just had a set made and they should be with me shortly (not sure when as a couple of the couriers sorting offices have been flooded down this way) On 24th of May, 2007 at 09:37am Vegard said:

I don't believe what's on there... I got my doors through on the weekend, and as they come (without latches, perspex door handles) they weight a little over 5kg each on my bath room scales. However if I was to do it again I thing I'd make them myself, turns out that KGC panels in Bristol sell alloy skins for £50 a pair, if people want I can check as I've got to go down there in the next week of so anyway. I should be getting Mk1+3 ally door skins in this Thursday. I haven't seen the quality of them yet. If they are ok I'll let you know. Should be about £50.00 a pair inc vat. Mat from Hythe Performance Parts. |

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

:)Ally door skins now in stock! Well both sides of MK3 and right hand only Mk1 so far. They look good and they only weigh 1.35 kilos each, which is 3kg lighter each than the steel door skins! And they won't rust! Hoping to get LH Mk1 ally skins next week. Keep you posted.
