Well I had an afternoon free this week.

And here are my results.

What do you think.?

Sorry for a photos being a bit out of focus. My hands were still a bit shaky after all that drilling.

Also seam welded tower tops and front mountings were the tie bars fit.

Si

P.S. Not weighed it yet mind. But it feels a fair bit lighter. *happy*

I drill holes in everything..!

I love the way you have made the holes in the towers bigger, very neat. I had to look twice to see what you had done. I need to do something like this at some point.

Ben H- Yeah, I gave it a whole lot of looking at before I got stuck in. worked out quite nice.

I tried to leave all the double skin areas alone. But thought everything else was fair game. Kept everything in symmetry to,to try and help with any stress which might occur.

If I ever was to convert to coilovers, you could probably take a bit more out of the towers, I think.

Matty- It's at the shot blasters at the mo. When it gets back i'll do a weigh in. And I have a clean standard subframe to compare.

clubminiflip - Help yourself mate. Thats whats this forum all about. Is it not.?

Sorry I never got round to weighing it in the end.

But, It was much lighter compared to the standard one that came of off.

Sorry for not a more accurate measurement.

But all I can say is it was worth the effort.

Loads and it'll be a bugger to get at now as theres a bloody engine in the way.

I wish I'd weighed it first. But I needed the car mobile. And pot_dan needed a front subframe for his a.s.a.p. So it was a quick change over job.

had a bit of a sesh with the holesaw today, kept it quite conservative as im not after every ounce just yet:

didnt have any scales handy at the garage, but collected all the bits as a rough guide:

591g's, so prob just over 600g's removed

Paul, so a total of 9.5kg lighter than a stock front frame, thats got to be titanium then?
