Dump valve should work OK like that. You have fitted 2 spacers between carb and manifold, usually there is only 1.
Small pipe goes to the dizzy yes.
Do a search for fuel pipe connections there is a really detailed thread explaining all about it.

whats up with the welding on the bulkhead box though!?! that was not very nice, hope it does not fall apart.

yeah i know the welding isnt pretty it was my first time at welding but i have had a guy look at it and he says although not pretty its strong so its fine.
im not to worried about cosmetic bits at the moment i just want to get the car ready for the nurbughring trip with theminiforum on the 29th.
when iget back ill prob strip it back down and tidy everything up and have a re-paint etc.

cars coming along nicely and pretty much finished im just waiting on some parts in the post and should hopefully be able to fire her up for the first time next weekend if all goes well.

i have a couple more questions to pick your brains with.

in this pic (ignore the red arrow) on the manifold there is a kind of banjo bolt with a tube on it. what is this ? and what should i do with it do i have to connect it to somthing ?

i have removed the heater from the car and now have two pipe connections one on the bottom rad hose and the other the heater valve on engine do i block these off or can i route these to the manfold water pipes somhow?
