ah yes i see you've got pics!

the older manuals are better IMO. just remember when puting the bearings back, tap don't hammer, and work around the bearing race don't just tap it in one place.

it took me a while to work out haow to post them too....

what you need to do is go to he album where you have uploaded the pic then clic on the pic to open it so its big, then right click and select properties, and copy the link on the properties page, paste this into the message and put [/img] at the end of the link and [img] at the start.

to me it looks like a A series box ( pre A+) the slightly flat tops to the gear teeth give it away, also the idler drop gear will have a 5/8" shaft rather than the A+ 3/4" shaft.

dont panic though, nothing wrong with the A gearbox, in fact some reckon its better.

I may be mistaken but looking at the picture above I would call it an A+ gearset...

LOL,

I jus had a look at a couple of boxes in the garage, I have an A+ box that looks just like the above one,

I'm sure I remember the tops of the gears being much more pointy on the A+ gears, Guess I must be getting old!!

No it isn't. It also looks as there might be a crack in the casing, but I cannot see because the picture is so shite.

Why not let the autofocus settle before taking pictures????

Your right m8, it has a crack in the casing.. what a tosser..
Could it be welded, or that mean new casing....
When it rains it rains :(
Cheers lads

new case

welding may or may not last, but would you risk it?

PS: saves trying to get the selector shaft out, that would have been a bugger

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I pick holes in everything..

Chief ancient post excavator

As that shaft does not slide in the casing I wouln't be worried about welding that. A good aluminium weld is just as good as the rest of out shite casings.

Just to confirm, that is definately an A+ gearset.
