Ive accidently managed to find the ultimate sonud deadening remover. :) :)

First I was cleaning the roof with some citrus based cleaner from work to remove the glue that hold that nasty fibreglass type sound deadening on.

Then whilst cleaning the rear seat with thinners I found that where I had been treading the citrus cleaner into the floor it was completely clean..result. :)

A few squirts, wait a little and wipe!! (waiting for snide remarks..lol)

Its stuff my work sells (I work for an adhesive application company), its designed to remove glue. Only thing is we only sell it in boxes of 12!!

Gav Pm sent

EDIT: I haven't tried using it to remove all of the sound deadening, just to remove the remaining residue once the majority has been chipped/scraped off.

Sorry to dig this one up but I thought I may aswell post here instead of making a new thread!!

Chipped off 3/4's of sound deadening today with a hammer and big flathead screwdriver - crap job!

Anyway, im left with this :

Whats the best way to get rid of the gooey bits that are left over, i've tried white spirits but the chunks are too big to wipe away and take painstakingly long to scrape off!!

The Drivers side rear bit was already done when I got the shell.

Cheers

i found the stuff that gave me the best results and least hassle was "AutoGlym intensive tar remover"

i tried some of the above suggestions but this worked alot better imo.

got mine from halfords or similar. It is a little pricey but well worth it

Hmm thanks for the replies.

Matty what sort of cleaner you reckon I should try? I got some hardcore wheel cleaner or should I try domestic stuff lol.

All else fails i'll try the thinners or the tar remover.

Cheers.
