Miglia slicks, Pah! mine are way way way stickier than them. At most they would last 3 laps of a circuit.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Vegard, my 13" wheels are far lighter than any 10" wheels I've ever come across (fitted with tyres).

Without tyres they weigh 5.2KG's each (did cost a fortune though). I know my Superlight 13x6's weigh in at 7.8KG bare too.

Never weighed tyres so not sure but can't imagine they are twice as heavy as 10"s.

Just got some 10" wheels to do some more testing with project "secret and rapid" and almost did myself an injury carrying one in to the house whilst easily juggling 4 13"s with one hand (waiting for Nic's disturbing comment!)

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Wes,

Are you happy with the streetfighter doors?

I've always rated them and their survice but somebody recently told me they weren't impressed by the ones they recieved. I am wondering if their work has slipped a bit .... I hope not as you say they are top people to deal with!

yeah im really impressed with them. the quality imo is pretty good. the outer skin fits pretty well and with some kind of door card to cover where it has been chopped on the inside and it would look really smart. its certainly something you could do yourself though if u had the time/patience and a decent set of doors to start with but as an off the shelf item they seem really good.

right car is finished now (although slightly multi coloured but paint comes later!). its been a long week but im pretty happy with it at the moment. there is still abit of work that could be done to improve the fit of everything but this can be done over the winter.

the lexan sliding windows for the doors weighed in at 1.4kg for each door so in total on the doors i have saved nearly 14kg a side, which isnt too bad atall.

other things removed today:

front bumper: 2kg
passenger seat: 10.6kg
passenger roll cage door bar: 2.8kg
aluminium floor plates (in footwells instead of matts): 2kg (each!)
fire exstinguiser: 1kg
can of oil in rear pocket: 4kg
chrome fuel cap cover: 0.6kg

i got bored at this point at stopped short of taking the heater out and decided to call it a day!

so total weight saving....... 78.8kg

quite happy with that, short of my 100kg target but that may have been abit optimistic! no more rusty panels anywhere on the outside now aswell which is a bonus!

Thought youd've taken the heater out already.

Save a bit there from water in the system.

Bet you cant weigh that on your bathroom scales, LOL

Top job. Mate.

Nice that someone has taken the time to weigh everything as they went along.

I was going to, but forgot most of the time.

Interesting what stuff weighs.

Hope all that hard work pays off.

I drill holes in everything..!

I weighed the roll cage the other day, It weighs 30 kgs, give or take 1 or 2 kgs. thats with door bars.

so weight added:
New seats I guess 2 x 5kg over the old ones
Roll cage 31 kg
Wheels 15.2 kg

56.2 kg

Bollocks!

Also, thanks to minimad69 for the cage. At least now I should be more protected from the idiots on the road.

My seats weigh 15.5 kg's each (metty turbo).

I would think standard mini ones would be around 10 or 12kg's.

so how much time does 80 odd kgs equate to on the track......

0.2 seconds! lol
the best i managed yesterday was a 14.6 compared to my previous best of 14.8. im gunna put this down to driver skill though as i feel there is certainly plenty more to come as i didnt get a run that i was close to being happy with! lolstill quite pleased with the times for only my second ever time on a drag strip!

the car certainly feels abit more nimble now, even driving up there it seemed to fly round roundabouts better than before and is alot of fun to drive.
the first few runs i was only running 8-12 psi to get used to things and make sure everything was ok. ran 15 psi for the last few which made a big difference. theres no reason why i cant push this further as ive got the CR, set up etc to do this so but was a little worried about ripping the (standard!!) diff apart. got a x-pin at the weekend (thanks nic!) so looking forward to getting that fitted and seeing what it can really do!
