However the day was cut short, as some of you know we had problems at MITP with it blowing a core plug out, this was put down to the sealed cooling system getting overpressurised after doing three runs one after the other. However after running it today, the cooling system was pressurised a ridiculous amount after every run, and required lots of bleeding etc, it seems we have a head gasket problem, so the day was cut short. .

Are you using the steel 3 piece gasket or a turbo one? Loaded question bearing in mind this set up cannot be retorqued like 5 port or as easily as a 5 port?

Currently a turbo BK450, I'm going to pull the head today so we'll see whats what, as you say retorquing not really viable and hence didn't get done!
A different gasket may be something we will think about.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

yeah was good to see the DON in action. Was mightly annoyed though as i went up and was only 45mins down the road so could of brought mine. i expected it to be busy though so didnt bother.

wouldnt of been close to any of those times.

I've just watched the videos of my car from MITP and you can hear the softcut come in from outside the car well before i change so it was something i was suffering from at MITP too. would of been good to see the difference.

TBH at the rate the times are coming down you'll be at the 12.5 in no time especially with gas fully working.

i reckon with a roof chop sprint-style, you could get pretty damn close to 11s with the setup you've got there.

The salisbury is obviously doing a pretty good job of getting the power down, but would a quaiff(sp?) diff knock anymore off?

No the quaife would be worse to be honest. The salisbury is a very old design which makes the car not all that easy to drive over bumpy surfaces etc, but on a drag strip it transmits maximum torque to whichever wheel has any grip.
The quaife however doesn't lock to the same degree, so would make matters worse IMO, however if I wanted to drive the car quickly on the road then it would be perfect, this is the reason Nic has fitted a Quaife I'd imagine, as a Salisbury would make a car like his a pig to drive on the road.

Two words V; road tyres.

I think on slicks it could be possible.

it may just about be possible to get an MOT but that does not make it road legal.

Would you please stop whining about this MOT and road legal stuff every fucking time? We are totally aware of your point of view now. Zip it!

if it has an MOT, tax and insurance then its road legal. full stop. not really all that hard to work out.

now providing its running in such a condition it could get all 3 of those, then its road legal in my eyes.

The whole point of an MOT is to check if it is road legal PMSL

Add tax and insurance and IT IS road legal end-fucking-off.

So what would it need in your opinion to be road legal that it does not have?

It has wipers and washers, that both work. It has headlights and sidelights that work as they should. It has indicators that work as they should. The tell tale lights on the dash work. It does not have a rear fog light or hazard lights as its too old to need them. The wheels/tyres are fully covered by the arches. The seat is securely mounted as are the belts, which are E-marked and road legal.
The handbrake does not currently work, but I have drawn up some plates to fit behind the rear pads to allow a mechanical cable to be attached and connected to function.
Regarding emissions the ECU can be altered to make the fuelling whatever is required to pass the MOT.
It has two door mirrors and an interior rear view mirror.
It is fitted with Yoko A008 road tyres with nearly 5mm of tread on them. It has a glass front windscreen. The front doors can be opened from either the inside of the car or the outside of the car.

So what, may I ask, is the problem that does not allow it to be road legal???

Tom. I think you should put a I-pod holder in it as well. That then also ticks the box of having 'ICE' and is another tick in the box for actually qualifying for a vehicle that 'could' be used on the road...

Handbrake is a pretty big thing, but also largely irrelevant IMO as it isn't going to turn a 12.7 into a 13.5 due to weight or anything else.
Two mirrors? It only needs one. Think of the excess weight!!!

What about the boot floor? If this is steel, then it ticks every box I reckon.
