Ouch, why didnt you save money and get the fibreglass bridger out? *tongue*

Youre lucky as it cudve been worse.

Class cars the v6 clios, rs's and some evos but dont take this rong way, never had a soft spot for newer porches. The 911 turbo from bad boys and gt are best.

ceramics?

I love combe ..... hate "action days".

They let too many people out at a time, most off which wouldn't know a racing line if it bit them on the arse.

I can push my car over Avon flat then get all the breaking done between then and the turn in point for Quary ...... sticky 13s and coil overs anybody ..... sorry could resist!!!! *wink*

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I only found out your ment to brake before the rise after I'd driven the circuit a couple of times LOL.

Luckily it was in a slow mini so it didn;t matter.

These days I still don't worry about braking before LOL - ask Iain or Dan (I cant remember who it was) when I took them round in my old BMW 540 !!

There better than hitting a brick wall, but it's still advised that you avoid hitting them.

Are you guys really having to get your braking done before Avon???

My rev limiter (soft) is at 7000 (3.44 diff)and I am on that as I sweep across to the left for Avon then it needs to be maximum braking until the turn in point with a down change to 3rd, holds on well for Quary with just a hint of the tail coming loose then need to grab 4th again at Apex as I am back on the limiter imediately after if I don't.

I can't work out how I can do that if Jon F is saying to be off the brakes by the time you pop over the rise?????
Ok sticky 13" rubber (treated 048r softs) and big brakes (rover 214 discs (10.2") mounted on one off bells with radial mount willwoods so I can shrug the speed off but still doesn't explain it all .......

If I can get a day on the car before Combe I will bring her along ...... hasn't tuned a wheel since combe action day 2005 ..... bloody houses!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Roger, you may well brake after avon, you do have a far superior brake set up than most provided it is set up well.

I certainly brake before Avon rise, settle the car , down to 3rd all while moving from right to left side off the track.

Always keep it STRAIGHT over Avon as the car will a a little light if carrying enough or too much speed.

I hit brake down into Avon from around 8000rpm (126ish) on boggo Metro turbo brakes with carbon metallic pads that are very well set up with the correct master cylinder front and rear and a carefully adjusted bias bar.

The tyres are 048's but untreated in medium, softs do not last the race before going off.

So tackling the trickiest part of the circuit in your car and your experience it will be the case!

I would ADVISE folk to brake before !

TBH, I believe it is possible brake after Avon, but it's not recommended if you are inexperienced on the track (like me) and probably worse if you don't know Coombe.

IIRC there are A4 posteres in the tavern stating that you are 3 times more likely to crash at Quarry than on any other corner.

That said it's the chicanes that throw me and I will hold my hand up to spinning in the esses.
