it was tthe gasket on the carb, fixed that and after twistin the dizzy it fired first time.

sounds gorgeous.
i figure the problem was the gasket blockin the hole which pressureises the float chamber.

thanks for all the help guys might be worth noting this problem for the future

In the garage......again!!

Turbodave did a good article on starting trouble with turbos in the faq section.

"then either the internal porting in the carb has become blocked, or an incorrect gasket fitted between the carb and plenum."

All that would do would be to prevent it running properly ON BOOST.

All you needed to do was swing the dizzy to get it to run first time.

o well either way im in the c**p again,
it wont go into gear when the engine is running the clutch doesnt seem to disengage.

have a bad feeling ive put the friction plate in the wrong way round, started striping it down just need to find my puller.

the prob the first time was definatly a fuel problem soz to contradict,
i did read that post by turbo dave which is why i checked that gasket

Please do explain why the hole from plenum to float chamber stopped it from starting up then, I'm intregued.

dunno really dont know much about fuel and stuff,
it was just that there was no trace of petrol in the cylinders,
i did try twistin the dizzy but it didnt start, taking the carb off was a last resort, that was the only thing i could see that was wrong,
unless there was some crap blocking it that got dislodged when i removed it
