robert a mate of mine runs his own motorsport prep business not a million miles away, if you want I can enquire as to how much he would want to set your corner weights up on his digital scales?

I'll enquire for you and see what he says, may be of interest to others anyway.

So from reading this thread it seems that you can't rule out the beam for road use?

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

My preference too ......

I'd say that you probably should think twice about it if your going to have people in the back. If it's defo just a 2 seater then there is no reason why not ...... other than the fact that none of the current beams are much good ..... none really stiff enough IMHO.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Its never been a 4 seater, and with the cage and lack of rear seat I don't think I'd have too many people wanting to sit in the back..lol

What make of shocks and beams are you guys using as that must have some effect on the damping and geometry?

mine is a speedex type beam ,looks just the same as a m spares one .. it has totally adjustable camber and toe in ,so geometry is up to you !! , the shocks are gaz ,and when i decide how long they have to be ,the springs will be from raceparts .
how long are yours nic ???!

I have 10" of length up the rear of my girl

however when im thinking about going for some 9"ers, i just need to have a look to see how much adjustment i have left.
When i popped on the 10" 200lb springs i went to the lowest setting and it was still about 2" too high as they wouldnt compress (as seen at avon)

As a addition to the earlier post, I spoke to my mate with the digital scales, he says he will set the corner weights on Minis for £50 if anyone is interested. May some use to those of you in the Birmingham/Warwickshire area.

thanks for that nic ..
yes i think that 9 inches may be all mine can manage in the rear ,any more and it would be too uncomfortable cos it will be an inch in b4 it gets compressed so will lose sensitivity and be v bumpy .

Robert,

Scruffy did mine and set up all the suspension angles at a very competive price:

i just measured my springs up as the car sits on the ground (not with me in) and the spring's compress from 10" to 7.5"

I think ill try some 9" 125lb jobbies, as i currently have 28mm left to lower it, but about 5mm to raise it
