Absolutely RichSpec. I often give that advice to people who ignor me as they think I have done the same. They need to look in the boot and see the bar across the shelf and the attachement back to the rear arches. Why I can only have one speaker in the shelf ...lol

It is scary how Mini's let go in a shunt, think about what the back end would look like if there hadn't of been a welded in steel rear shelf in the car!!!!!

People who cut the parcel shelf out are gambling their lives .....

youll find most modern cars seat belt points rip away from the mountings to disperse energy.

having 'some' give in the mounting points isnt necessarily a bad thing

i have put mine into the rear seatbelt mounting points in the rear of the back seat pan

Joey, they are designed to pull away in a contolled fashion not just rip the mountigns out with a big bang.

It's clever how they make the mounting points, usually with a controlled fracture line by laser cutting the panel to an ever decreasing depth.
