To be fair to Combe you have to remember 2 things;

1) They have some very strict noise controls imposed on them and it might only take one breach of those to shut the circuit down for good.

2) The Mini day and Rally day are the only two action / track days in a year that they can get dispensation to increase their vehicle noise limits to 100db. If your failing the noise limits on either of those days then in reality your car needs better silencing!

On top of the points above aimed at casual track users it must be remembered that there are several race classes which would like to visit Combe but can not due to noise restrictions.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

yeah its a shame they have been imposed with the strict limits, i cant believe people move next to a race track and complain, surely they must know it would be noisy!?? its still one of my fave tracks and hopefully it will continue to stay so!

There is something fishy about the noise tests at combe. I'm sure they have more than one sound meter, and both read very differently.

A few weeks ago I was there with the miglia's and every car passed the 105db noice limit. The week after I was there on a test day with a car which raced there with no problems, but it failed the noise test.

My car was recently tested for noise, and was low 80's but on Saterday it was 95 odd DB's the amount of extra silincers sold by merlin was amazing, I did wounder who supplied the sound meter? Merlin maybe?? I'd be interested to know when it was last calibrated.
