I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Ear protection is not just rated on attenuation but also frequency range. No point in having loads of attenuation in areas you don't need it and none where you do!!!

I use Optime 2 and 3 for different things at work along with 2 other types, again for dealing with different frequency ranges.

Surely if you have to wear ear defenders in a car then you need to trailer it rather than drive it ..... think of the effects on the poor people you drive past!!!!

When I rebuild my turbo mini I doubt it will ever be raod legal purely based on the noise issue!!!

If your drivign motorways in such vehicles your all mad IMHO ..... off to drive a nice quiet MPi after the rugby has finished.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Proven 200+bhp & Avon Park 05,06,07 Class D 3rd place

cheers for that Iain, another good one for them then.

Roger, Point taken IYO *wink*
Most people use ear protection because "inside" there car is noisy, not from the out side. I wear my stuff at motorway speeds, where i'm sure i'm out noised buy all the other cars and lorrys, with very ittle worry about disturbing other people, at slower speeds my car isn't that loud and i don't wear them *happy*

My car at around 60 mph isn't very loud outside at light throttle, I would bet on it, just drowns like made inside the car. And IMO it would seem silly to trailer a car "just" cos of that reason lol.

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Yes, I take noise very seriously as you only get one pair of ears. In wear earplugs in the mini and only take them out if I'm pootling. Same with my mates jeep. No windscreen/roof and above 60mph, wind noise must be well over 90dB.

Loud exhausts are a strange point as there are no "official" rules in the UK. If you piss anyone off by driving like a chump or the officer dislikes you, you could be in for problems :)

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

a friend of mine got a 14 day vehicle rectification order as his exhaust was too loud according to the officer. to be fair it was really loud, then the baffles fell out and you could hear him coming over a mile away
