Ear protection is not just rated on attenuation but also frequency range. No point in having loads of attenuation in areas you don't need it and none where you do!!!

my two proudest moment ever in the mini were making a small child cry, and making a 7 year old jump off the ground in suprise thanks to my gears |

Yes, I take noise very seriously as you only get one pair of ears. In wear earplugs in the mini and only take them out if I'm pootling. Same with my mates jeep. No windscreen/roof and above 60mph, wind noise must be well over 90dB.

a friend of mine got a 14 day vehicle rectification order as his exhaust was too loud according to the officer. to be fair it was really loud, then the baffles fell out and you could hear him coming over a mile away |
