I had loads of this stuff. I started with what I think was one of the very first Technic kits - a beach buggy type thing with (very high) independent rear suspension and a roll cage made out of the black axle parts.
Edit:http://www.nd.edu/~lego/grp2/www/graphics/lego/8845.jpg
Talk about basic!

Think my nephew has it now so it'll all be lost!

lego rocks, my sons have inherited 3 large cases full, funny when you were little your parents used to say "keep the right peices for the right set together" of course you responded with "fuck that" i now find myself in their shoes, however i have seized all instructions as nathan has ripped some up and drawn on em (said they were upgrades) i spent two days sorting all technic sets into ice cream tubs and it took him 3 minutes to pour em all back into the big chest !

does anyone have the Lego cd rom with all the kit instructions in ? well worth having, i am after it too.

i had the technic fork lift (later version of yours Tom the lift was operated by cogs and a chain)

also had the pnuematics set and the Sea King helicopter :)

Richie

shall i start the Action man / Action force / GI Joe thread next ?

When I was a kid I had a huge bucket of lego I used to pour out on my bedroom floor and spend hours rummaging through looking for the right bit.

Now I have a huge tin of nuts bolts that I pour out on the garage floor and spend hours rummaging through to find the right bit.

Funny how thinks change.

my mate had Big TRAX if thats the one where you spend ages typing in the course you want it to take ? we blew his up playing "Mobile Bomb" a wholesome game for kids !!!! filled the tipper full of flash powder from fireworks / shotgun cartridges etc etc. then we put a load of split shot (fishing weights) on top programmed the journey into Big TRAX, put a 9v battery on the front bumper wired onto a rocket ignitor buried into the gun powder.. then sent it on its mission :) then when the big tracks front bumper hit the target "BOOOM" we played the best games !!! didnt quite work as planned just a bright flash, we learned that the powder needed to be confined, so "Mobile Bomb II" was created with the assistance of a section of gas pipe and two threaded caps i remember we set it off in the school field, we hid in the long jump sand pit and sent the unit accross the yard into Bullies corner :)

totally come off the topic of lego here just reminising :)
