These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Oh forgot... yes, turbo hangs off the Manifold. Its very strong!

The fuel regulator is a Holley. I got a new Holley Blue fuel pump and regulator and Ben modded it for rising rate.

Had the oil drain hose split on me 2 days after install (was a dud hose) and dumped all the oil... oil pressure went to 0 and I shut it off.

No damage at all, oil friggin EVERYWHERE.

Replaced with new hose new clamps and heat shield fibreglass stuff just on the oil drain...

Hi Lads,

Finally installed an intercooler. Ben took off the plastic tanks and made me some bling bling alloy ones. Makes such a difference, you can lick the pipe from the intercooler into the plenum after 30min of hard driving... (if you wanted to lick it that is) its nice and cold...

Possibly running a little lean now, ill add ATF to the dashpot (dampner) and if need be, richen up the mixture.

Now running 10psi

I bent the valves before intercooling (yes, inlet and exhaust were all stuffed) but had them recut and put them back in... I am waiting on some custom valves for my head, about a month or so... stainless steel high quality race valves.

Still driving her daily, just not thrashing the daylights out of her.

Not sure if the metro turbo blow off valve is up to the job for 10psi either... I think its not dumping enough and slowing down the turbo if you nail it and shift quickly... will see...
Peter.

Recutting bent valves is a hit and miss territory. You've been warned!

Hey Vegard,

Yeah I know... new valves are coming, and will k-line the head(guides)

Currently she is in the workshop - panel work started - cutting out the rust, etc then painting. Hopefully the valves will be ready by then.

Ok, slight update. Its off the road at the panel shop
All the rust being cut out, new rubbers being put in too... and respray.

While its in there, fuel pump coming off and sent back for warranty (its leaking dammit)
Also, the head will come off as I have got some very good Mk1 S valves for it. They will be turned down and put in after the head (guides) are k-lined.

More pics of the work and updates soon.

Peter.

Oh: PS: Melted through the yellow accelerator cable... it had no metal outer :( It was just plastic...

MK1 S valves are too short for a 940-head.

Hi Vegard,

Thanks, I am actually running an extremely worked 12G202 head. Currently, I have 1.3 roller tipped rockers on it. I had really bad geometry in the head. The angle the rockers were on was very bad.... so we put spacers under the rocker posts and I had to use 1275 pushrods (longer than smallbore ones)

The Mk1 S valves as you say are shorter, so I can get rid of the spacers and get the angle right with the most lift... was getting bugger all (320thou)

Cheers,
Peter.

Ok, another update. I have the Mk1 S Valves (extremely good condition - almost new!) and the head has been blasted to clean up everything and has been sent to get k-lines put in. Once its back, the valves will be machined down and put in.
Should sort out all the issues. 1100S valves (which I had) are not as good material. The Mk1 S valves are pneumonic stainless steel... way way over engineered for the years they were made.

If that's the case I guess you're in the clear. They're longer than 998 valves but I've done this myself *wink*

tuesday will be 'fixing stuff' day.

fuel pump, pull head to change seals (crap), change coolant, change oil.

looking at your work I wish i could get to work on my own bimmer 16v project.. a SC12 would be a nice addition..shame i can't find those over here

Pristic: I've asked this before, but forgot where...
Do you know the piston dish on those Hypatec 1100 pistons? Do anyone know what the dish is on a standard 1100 btw?

Also, which compression and boost are you running on those pistons without an intercooler?

Hi Vegard,

Not sure on the dish mate, sorry.
They are 1098 +.040 and I 'think' they are 6-7cc dish.

I WAS running 7psi and 9.5:1 comp without intercooler.
I ran it up to 10psi and bent valves, wrecked guides, etc so wound it back down. and temporarily fixed (recut) the valves and put new guides.
Now I have an intercooler, k-lined guides and the Mk1 S valves are being machined. It will run 10psi for now (same comp - 9.5:1) but ill wind it up to 12psi after getting new fuel pump, bigger fuel line, return line and a malpassi rising rate reg.

Setup right now is:
9.5:1
10psi
Intercooled
Holley Blue 14psi fuel pump
Holley regulator modified for rising rate
No return line
standard fuel line
etc...

Will put in:
EFI Fuel pump
Malpassi Rising rate regulator
5/16" fuel and return line
12psi boost
etc.

Here's a really crap pic of the k-lined guides.

Pete.

Hey James,

Runs great - actuator preload is not set right so its been maxing out at 9psi... but for a test I added the bleed valve and got it up to 11psi ...

It spools quicker and produces more power BUT its much more linear - ie/ doesnt come on as aggressively as the smaller T2 - it almost feels like it isnt as powerful but then you realise how fast your going... the diff is making a big difference too, used to come on boost quick and break traction - since it doesnt do that now its much better.

Will get the boost up to 12psi with this one and leave it there.

Happy days :)

Pete

PS: Drags tomorrow night so ill let you know the times *wink*
