The thing is that the house prices have finally reached a point where people are thinking twice about moving. So the house prices have stabilised. The interest rate it not high like it was in the 80s bubble burst so if house prices did drop significantly people would imediately start buying again and cause a price rise.

I understand that there are many other factors to concider (see doom monger Mirage*smiley*). A small drop in the near future I can see, but not a bubble burst. Just IMO. Some of us in this thread will be provrd right. No body really knows for sure, but the finantial experts with a lucky guess now could be getting a nice bonus.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I'm with you Ben, i can see a slow down or small drop of the very expensive places, but i cant see a massive drop.

Saying that i wouldnt want to be paying top dollar for a house now if i was only just coming onto the market. if you're moving house then its all relative.

Staffordshire or Northamptonshire

Thing ius in the late 80's early 90's there was not the level of dept, all the fancy dept products dreamt up by banks to make money. Years of crap goverment inflation figures that are wat out and biasing things. House prices based on earning were no where near the level of today.

So we dont need to hgave interest rates of 15% to cause disaster.

Everything today is on finance, even the firms most of you work for are running on borrowed capital !!!!!

Just think guys if the bamks decide they will only borrow 3-4 times earnings or the goverment decided to regulate it to this level (all well possible) to stock dicks borrowing more moiney than they cxan afford. Where would you house prices be then??????

Bobuses in the financial sector will be wiped out this yerar so no siully money to blow on houses. Bamks pay bonuses against profits !! no profit no bonus. So more money out of the london market.

Northern Ireland

Iain....

At a guess, Id say your house would be an easy £300k in most parts of Northern Ireland.

4-5 years ago....probably £150k tops. In fact. Maybe even closer to £120k.
The prices here are outrageous.

At Jay and any other Aussie crew...

Obviously there is a huge modding scene down under. But arent they a bit wanky when it comes to creating road legal modified cars ?
From what I read, even the simplest things, seem to be a headache.
rear recently that a guy had major hassles, just to fit a new engine block to his car, to get issued with a new engine number etc. Inspections, letters back and forward etc...such a nightmare.

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Yes and no. There are strict guildlines about noise, ride height, wheel width/offset/diameter and a million other things. But normally if you get an engineers certificate for any modifications that are considered major then your in the clear. The mods you can do with a certificate are pretty liberal in some states but not others. When it comes to Minis, the auhorities can be pricky about roll cages and flip fronts, but on the other hand I have seen carefully build ICVs (indiviually constructed vehicles) roll through inspections because people consulted engineers during the build. My car that I am building up (a Holden) will have a small block or LS1 from a chev, a tremec and a diff from a Ford but all those things are very common mods over there and any engineer will stand by them.

And lets face it, heaps of kids as young as 18 have standard Skylines, Monaros and turbo 4 litre Fords over there. That's not a bad lifestyle!
