Dave,

Make yourself aquainted with Mr Bernoulli :

Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."
Stephen Hawking - "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge."

As I have man-flu and can't get in the workshop, I've got the text books out and done some calcs.

Anyway, based on 1275cc, 6000 rpm, a port cross sectional area of 8.5 cm2, a VE of 82%, the average difference in boost pressure between the plenum and port due to velocity is approx 0.8 psi.

At the risk of being shot down, I also think that if you get an intercooler with 100% efficiency you could run 10.5:1 compression ratio on 15 psi!

Reality is that 100% is impossible, but the only reason to drop the compression ratio is due to temperature, not boost.

Just thought I'd point out you can get a 100%+ efficiency charge cooler, but only if the cooling medium is colder than the ambient air temperature (eg: A sea water/air charge cooler on a speedboat).

WTF with the triple post?!?

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.
