Right then.
ive got round to doing this job.
But as im doing the job from underneath the car. i cant get the pot joint out from the diff plate.
I managed to get it 1/4 of the way out, but finding it hard to get it out all the way.
need to get it off to get to the bolts at the top.
any tips ?
should i place the gater back on the pot joint with a tie, and pull the drive shaft ?

cheers.

If you take the wheel off and drop the top ball joint the hub will fold back and allow the whole drive shaft to move. This should pull the joint out ofthe diff.

Tried that mate, but all it keeps doing is pulling the gater on the pot joint :)
I managed to undo all the bolts and losen up the diff plate.
And the pot joint is alittle loser. but for the life of me i cant get it out.
jacked the car up as hight as i can to give me some arm room.
anyother tips i could try ?

cheers lads.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

you need to lever the pot joint out as it has a retainer.

be aware that all the oil will drop out when the pot joint comes out!!!

Ive tried a screw driver from behind the diff plate to lever it out.
But it's not having it :(

Lol yeah drain the oil first!

A chunky flat blade screw driver should be enough as its only a spring clip that holds it in place. *wink*

I didn't have a grow bar, so i tried this method. worked a treat :)
Wasn't really sure if it was ok to hit the pot at first.
Nice one rich mate :)
And yes, i did leave the O ring out *surprised*
You live and learn.
Can't wait to fix it and have some more fun.
I drove it back from kent to guilford, which took about 2 hours :)
Couldn't belive how much fun it was.
I was doing 70mph Cough cough lol with ease.
Only problem was, i couldn't hear my music with them drop gears lol. it was getting abit to much at one point. so i stoped off and brought an MP3 Player :) only problem is, all i could listen to was the radio. but that sorted it :) But was fun driving round town.
You get some many heads turning, because all they hear is this wine coming up the road lol love it 8-)

Cheers.

Its true what they say, "you learn from your mistakes". I bet you won't be doing that again? Lol

Glad you've got it sorted now. You've got me thinking...did I put the O ring in mine! *laughing*
