To be honest, i think i will be fine if i just buy a carb that i know is good, so if anyone has one ive put a wanted post up. Im also thinking about changing the distributor too if i can get one.

Right dude, try this:

Confirm the carb connections:

To confirm:
1) Pipe on plenum goes to top connection on regulator. This pipe must have no leaks / holes in it (remember on the std metro, there was a tee piece in that went to the ECU, just like in this pic - i assume the ecu is behind the dash). Check this by removing at the plenum, and sucking to check it is sealed.
2) Fuel-in is the rearmost connection on the carb.
3) The pipe just in front of the fuel-in must be plugged - ideally with a shouldered bolt - if you use the threaded section of a bolt, it will leak a tiny amount of air along the thread!
4) The balance pipe (from the side to front of the carb) - This must be plugged / blocked. The std hose is also prone to cracking, so replace it with two short pieces with the ends plugged.
5) confirm you have sufficient oil in the dashpot - described in a recent post...

If no joy, we'll try this.

Remove the dashpot in its entirety - carefull not to bend the needle. Store it upright to stop the oil flowing out of the damper (i have a hole drilled in my workbench for the needle to pass through for this very task).
Back at the carb, look at the Jet located in the middle of the 'bridge'.
See how there id a brass tube located in the bridge, that sits around 5mm below the top face of the bridge; well the jet should (as a guide) be halfway between the top of the brass sleeve and the top of the bridge - ie a little over 2mm down from the top of the bridge... The jet is rasied and lowered with the mixture screw.

Re-fit the dashpot and try it

Any different???
If not, then try this 'trick':
Find a 'tee-piece' (the one fitted to the metro in the pipe between the plenum and regulator that sent the signal to the ECU is ideal - if not, a windscreen washer tee piece might suffice at a pinch).

Put your tee piece in the pipe between plenum and regulator (as per Metro turbo), but instead of connecting to the ECU, connect to the carb connection just in front of the fuel-in pipe (yes, the one i told you to block off). What we are trying to do is by-pass the internal ports in the carb that increases the air pressure in the float chamber (not to be confused with fuel pressure).

Still got a problem?

Well i'm fucked without seeing it...

I will try everything in the morning first thing. Especially the balance pipe thing. I will also redo the one blocking off the breather! I didnt realise about the leaking along the threads bit!!! Thankyou again!
