I read somewhere that the co2 can create a frost layer on the intercooler core and act as a thermal insulator until the frost melts, a bit like an igloo!

Joe, do you have a photo of your tool?

^^^That would be bad then right??

What about nitrous sprays?Would they create the same igloo thing?

The article my mate told me about was in Practical Electronics magazine. Haven't got a copy to hand to scan in, but could be worth a flick through at WH Smiths?

Matt if it's "Everyday Practical Electronics" (Jan 08) I've found a copy on line, if it's a different article could you get me a copy as it's always good to compare designs. Can't do much with it for a week or so mind as I'm off to France in a few hours.

Just read thi post Rob. See above *laughing* ^^^

Well had a good look at the circuit and can't say I particularly like the design (like so much in the world of electronics it's based on another circuit that did something totally different) but I should be able to build one pretty cheaply.

Ive been thinking bout this "igloo" effect and it had me thinking.

This would theoretically work but it may damage your intercooler.

As a layer of ice is formed over the intercooler a salt solution could be sprayed onto it.
Salt can lower the freezing temperature of water and so a lower temp can be achieved without a greenhouse effect.

Whether it works or not i dont know, i just know the science pricipal *tongue*

I had two attempts at etching the circuit board last weekend (along with a load of other boards) and both attempts failed :( strangely all the boards I designed worked fine (might have something to to do with the width of the tracks and the angular corners) so I'm in the process of redesigning the board (the more tweaking I do the worse the original design appears to be). On the plus side the circuit is based on a NB Lamba gauge so I'm going to make sure that the board can be used for either.

PS. Anyone know why my spell checker (Firefox) does like the words gauge & Firefox?
