I weighed it today after finishing it and its just over 1/4 kilo lighter than the original tin one. Quite a good weight saving Id say.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

The top part was 16swg which when stretched and filed turned into (about 18swg) and the front and back section were 18swg to start with and when filed and papered turned into (about) 1mm.
I'll be making the timing chain cover next so I'll post some pics of that in a few weeks.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

that is a good saving considering the original one is hardly the 4th bridge.

ally transfer case breather in the pipe line?

My transfer case has all of the breather case mounting machined off and a simple alloy tube welded on which vents to the rocker cover, then to the oil catch tank. In total i removed nearly 1kg from from the transfer case.
I am looking at doing alloy bootfloor, rear bulkhead, rear parcel shelf, bottom dash rail and front bulkhead though. If all goes well you wont know the difference without a magnet.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I seriously doubt it!

Polish it, paint will add extra weight!

Forgot to say it looks fantastic, good luck with the rest of your alloy parts, are these for the sprint or the new project?

That is a brilliant piece of fabrication, and a really anal weight saving.:) But it all adds up.

Paul that is fabulous, hats off to you, shame you are painting it though, but you will always know, I guess.....

Could be a good one for a wind up at Avon Park, offer a bet of £10 to anyone who thinks they can stick a magnet to your rocker cover, I reckon you'd get some takers!!!!!!!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
