Timing a cam in using a degree figure is not as accurate as using a DTI which was Alex's original question.
With a DTI you can get it spot on but with a timing disc you run the risk of being out by a couple of degrees as the engine rocks.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

you need a timing disc and a dti.... hence needing to be able to put full cam lift at the correct degree setting from tdc...

unless he's talking about the 'lift on overlap' technique...
In all honesty, i found this pretty confusing to do at first... A Timing disc is much simpler, then you can try the lift on overlap approach.
