By the way dave. Can you find the solution to this task? "Put a grey plate force on the end of a mini crank (with rods attatched) and measure the amount it deforms" I was thinking about thrusts and reckon my 2 clutch cylinders idea is a very good one. One of my engines has got mega slop in no time. Why would a crank deform against the thrusts? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

It might deform a very small amount (hardly measurable) but you never know. If you balanced the thrust of the clutch out by using another cylinder on the pulley end like: H<-|== I reckon it would virtually eliminate thrust wear. If there was any give in the crank at these huge pressures, I would be curious how that would influence your minimum tolerances. You could run it a lot tighter, which would be better for things lining up everywhere.
Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

Stu - thrusts are designed for (wait for it...) taking thrust!

Thrusts aren't designed for taking proper thrust though. The sort of thing you get with a proper clutch.

I was looking in to the cryogenic stuff, they do an air cooler which goes in line with the throttle body and also a kit to cool the fuel and air pipe itself. This would only be able to cool stuff before the charger though and isnt an everyday long term solution as it would cane CO2 like its going out of fashion. Anybody had any experience of these things? |
