i thought us jocks were tight gits, none off you can put money up to get this up and runing, come on its for every bodys benifit, if med or avonbar, any other mini turbo company whant the challenge marks car ideal, it got home brew head on it, so its a real challenge

std engine so that you rule out intercooler variations, turbo vartions etc ect *wink*

alex, mark offer his car, were looking for best power results posible, the car and engine are proven, so whats the point of sticking ?500 cylinder head on a standard car

My point is that my car is well known and the bottom end is well proven and is the normal route most people follow for more power.But then you have a choice of heads and nobody knows who`s is the best or are they all very much the same , so why not test all of them back to back.
Not many people with a std turbo engine are going to stick a ?500+ head on it .

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

The variations point i understand , but using one engine for all will give a result that shows what each is capable of.

good point mark...

Only reason I suggest a std engine (other than to throw in my name *wink*) is that everyone starts with a std engine.

i cant believe some one from med actually came on here and put a post in the forum to defend their company, it just gos to show how much clout a large popular forum like this has ! power to the people ! tops to med for making an effort to explain them selves .

End of the day, MED are there to make money by providing a service, and that's it. By coming on here, they have pacified the situation, and Sumpy certainly seems happy now - which is the main thing...
Pressure testing of heads is certainly an option, but one that would cost quite a lot! We're talking some pretty high pressures...

A back-to-back of heads is an interesting concept, but there is no way you'd get equal results, and who's to say that the head you are supplied for a test isn't one that's secretly better than the one you could buy the next day from the supplier...
There are just too many variables to contend with - and not just the chamber shapes, but the rocker geometry, and also the piston dish shape.

Just a follow up note

- The head issue is all sorted -

Steve @ MED has been very helpful, he has helped me to understand why it blew through and was very helpful when advising and planning my next engine spec.

i have changed my engine spec slightly and will be using a 28cc head rather than 30cc and deeper dished pistons.

1 more month guys and i will be back on the road with the new engine!!! in the mean time i will be driving around with an old MG metro head, i love having my mini back again!!!
