yep i was a bit miffed but having said that we have been using that main shaft for years, so it has evently given up the ghost. made a bit of a mess of 3rd gear, i tried to rescue it, it had some micro welding on the back of the gear running face, manage to get 95% off but still run a bit to rough for my liking with that power output. so mat has got to try and get a 3rd gear. always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

i still think the main shaft was slightly bent, best we keep a tighter check on this area, eg putting on the lathe and checking with the dti gauge.

I've only got old ones out of other cars that were running standard. But yes that's a great point, Maybe changing it every year or 2 will get around the issue.
