AA deffo, used to use greenflag, bunch of idiots, and normally subcontracted local recovery teams. Been with AA for a while, used them twice, brilliant

none of the recovery companies pick up after accidents

they all also use contractors

Just thought i'd bring this thread up again because of a question ive got.

Just got my AA cover details through when I signed up last week.

I went for the "Relay" option as wanted the assurance that id be able to get home with the car if anything went wrong.

But upon reading the cover details it says "Relay - Recovery to any single UK destination of your choice IF the AA is unable to fix the car at the roadside OR arrange a prompt local repair."

Does this mean, I only get the option to get taken home with the car if they cant fix it or book it in to get fixed?

Id want to get the car home rather than have it fixed at a garage because i could fix it myself, but I dont want to only have that option if they cant book it in somewhere.

Bottom line is if they guy cant fix it at the roadside i want to go home with the car!

They are not usually going to take you home if they can take you to a local garage and get you going again quickly-this is just commercial pragmatism. When it would mean waiting for spares or an overnight they will always recover you if you have the appropriate cover.Dont expect Rolls Royce cover for £35p.a - I pay £120 ish for comprehensive cover and personal cover for me and ",er indoors"

Yeah mines £75 for 12 months.

I reckon majority of times if they can fix it at the roadside theyd have to wait for parts to be delivered at garages anyway so i guess being taken back home with the car will be more likely most of the time?

Aha thats reassuring then. You say "had relay", have you changed to a different service?

I worked for two years on breakdown recovery and the majority of genuine breakdowns were recovered, but not stupid things like out of fuel or punctures.Anything that involves suspension , steering, brakes or even fuel/oil leaks was a definite no no for a roadside fix. If you reckon you could not fix it at the roadside then its 99.99% sure you will be taken home.
