The last 1000cc I sold had 3.1. As the other post, 1275's A+ non MG are 3.44

There is an economy model with a 2.95 though, not sure what it is. Isn't there a european model with a 2.7 diff?

I don't know about a European model, but I'm pretty sure the MPIs had 2.7 FD (I wait to be corrected) at least that's where my 2.7 came from.

iv been offered an '82 998 unit for free, if still avalable. does this have a 3.1?

The only way to be sure is to pop the diff housing off and see what's there. As an aside FDs go for silly money on ebay, so if it's not what you're after you can probably flog the FD for more than the cost of the engine & box.

I think it was a KC article that said some Euro models has a 2.7 but with a pre-MPi box, i.e. mega leggy gearing.

I,m wanting to run a 2.95 with the clubman kit on 10's but would'nt it be overgeared in 1st i.e. lots of clutch slip needed to get off the line. Anyone any experience of this? could you get away with 13's or would that be too much. *Confused*

It's not the age that makes me creak it's the mileage

I thought the clubman kit uses a standard 1st gear? Im running a 3.1 and long 1st gear so running a clubman set and 2.9 shouldn't be far different.

I bit of clutch slipage is needed though.

no, the Tranx Clubman is 2.58:1 First gear. I'm assuming by long you mean High as in the Tranx kit?

The number of teeth for each dif ratio gear for 3,105 FD is 59 x 19.
