I can't take such a pic because my engine happens to be 40 miles away from here.

Waht I can do is line it up with an old 998 gasket that I have (gonna be on monday thought ...)

Five porter :
I prefer seeing a 16 V conversion than a 12G940 on a 998 ...

Interesting project you've got there, good luck and let us know how it progresses.

still got to figure the oil and water passages thought

It might be easiest to dry deck it.

I assume dry decking only involves oil blocking.

Am I right ?

If you also mean water, it calls for a second water pump as well as trouble ...

I'll have a look in the search section.

nope dry decking is the whole thing blocked up and an external feed from teh block to head is used.

Dont know why you would need a second water pump for that though.

New pics :

Head confronted to a small bore head gasket

Centre stud lined up, we can see that the other studs location is only close (much worse than spot on I guess)

I have to work out that but for a proper dry deck, I assume one needs water inlet on one side and outlet on the other side so it could be a good opportunity to reverse the cam sprocket side and appears do-able before anything put to pieces thought

Reverse cam scenario head + gasket picture :

These scenario is better because exhaust ends up at the back so not in the middle of oil pick ups, oil filter, starter motor, intercooler and rad ...

Dry decking :

At first, I conceived the block and head as being two different system that needed cooling hence the two water pumps, one for each independant system.

The objection I see about putting them "in line" is that the last visited part can not be coled as much because using hotter water than the first

Anyway, please comment on what you see about mi head.

Who would sell it in favour of a K1100 ? (bearing in mind it would need cams much more pacific to be compliant with a turbo in an everyday car where insane power levels is not the goal)
=>140 bhp is the target on a 1275

You would be best to dry deck it and re-drill a few water passages between the cylinders to line up with water galleries in the block (if possible).

Looking at the top picture you could probably blank off the big slots in the head and re-drill to meet the push rod holes.

Difficult to tell where you could put an external water feed or oil feed without having it in front off me. All part of the fun and games working these things out. Lol

How adjustable is the cam timing on these heads?

Looks like it would need a 1275 head gasket? The valves will kiss otherwise?

Scruffy : It is meant to go on a 1275

Matty : no idea about cam timing adjustment, I'll let you know when I put it to pieces.

Dry decking : the idea of redrilling some waterways sounds much better to me !

Sh*t is water from the block seem to be quite well lined up with oil in the head and vice versa ...

What I am really concerned about is an eventual oil feed because the upper part of the head is quite busy with rockers all over the place ...

Comment :
Base engine is a 1.2. Renault is building this engine in turbo form at 100hp in a picking up very low in the revs
