Mike that bearing looks like the same that was on my car which was orginial from 1970. the new one in the kit looks like the spare you have above.

We had problems adjusting the clutch to the book specs, I tried new arms, pins, slave etc had to adjust it by feel rather that the haynes manual.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

my orignal one was like this. I can only presume the different bearing put the adjustment off??

!!!!!

Thats the "heavy duty" realease bearing from minispares

Unfortunately its thinner than the std release bearing and it doesnt fit on the shaft too well meaning that it will rub on the circlip thing

Chuck it and put on a traditional one

Are we sure that the slave cylinder piston isn't bottoming out on the circlip?

This is where I'd be looking first.

Check out the link here.

Nic that must be why I need more throw than the setup described in the haynes manual. Now I'm useing the standard one as originally it had that so called heavy duty, but must have been inthe car since the year dot.

Those other ones are just wrong
They appear to be for a completely different application

Ive swapped for the standard and changed the back plate! And the clutch now throws out much nicer. So im not entirely sure what was causing it to feel so $hitty, might have been a multitude of things.

I know why it felt crap under pedal however. Im using a bloody 0.937 master cylinder and theyre only supposed to be 0.75. Ive just ordered one of these so im now back on track.

Once again a big thanks to Carl and Steve for the input and timel. Top fellas. Plus a thanks to everyone who chipped in.

Mike :)

that could be the heavy duty bearing that minispares do, after last nights chat with carl i had a look and found one of these, very similar to the metro release bearing....but doesn't fall apart, there not cheap at £22 but if they work they have my vote, look here.....

good dam 2nd pages, still when you say it doesn't fit on the shaft is it loose on the old type press on plungers? you can put washers behind the bearing to move the bearing forward on the shaft thus not putting the ball at the end of the clutch arm under more load than neccersary? I'm going to try cause my standard release bearing blew up after 700 miles and my clutch arm snapped at hte same time!!!
