tom i was running an effective 2.90:1 FD (economy metro overdrive drops and 3.1:1 FD) on 13's with my ol 266 cammed 1380. Had a CR of around 8.2:1 so on a par with most turbo motors off-boost(was planing on turboing)

got off the line lovely, sometimes a little wheelspin but never bogged down :) would pull almost 60 in second as stated. cruised lovely on the motorway, would pull up hills 4-up in 3rd gear. however the 1/4 mile times wernt particularly great, best i achieved was a mid 17 second run @75 ish mph(cant remember exactly)

would be beter with smaler wheels and a lower FD, but was absolutely lovely as a daily driver :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

oh well so i havent got a quick 1/4 mile time or top speed , how about driving my black clubman turbo to the mini 30 th bday back in '89 ! can anyone beat that ?

no , drove the turbo round silverstone for the 35th.

Like I say, that sounds good for what I want. If I want to go out on the streets racing stuff then I have a 170bhp 205 GTi to do that in, and that will suprise most of the quick stuff out there!
The long gears sound good to me, also I have a SC CR box so hopefully that will make the lag between gears thing not as noticeable.

what revs do they come on boost at?

Hmm, so the general consensus is about 3k then.

I will have to have a look at my graph (plotted road speed vs revs in 4 gears) to see what speed it will come on boost and then where I need to change gear to make sure it is on boost in the next gear.

keep it above 3k and your on boost , so whats the problem.

hows this for top Vegard mode, what an excavation ,

so i thought i'd up date it a little

not strictly top speed, but Don has run 117.5 mph over the 1/4,.
